SHOOTING: Southern District -- Police reported a 36-year-old Glen Burnie man was listed today in serious condition at the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore after he was shot in the back last night while seated in his car. Police said the victim was shot in the back while parked at an unknown location shortly before 9 p.m. Police said after he was shot, he drove to a Texaco service station in the 1400 block of E. Patapsco Ave., where he got out of the vehicle and told an attendant that someone had shot him. The attendant dialed 911, and the victim was taken to Shock-Trauma and admitted. Police said the back window of the car was shattered by at least one bullet, but the location of the shooting and a motive were not known.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Officials of the Otis Management Corp. in the 1600 block of N. Calhoun St. reported that someone broke into the storage room and stole property valued at more than $900. Police said the break-in occurred between Jan. 8 and Monday and the intruder escaped with a lawn mower, floor buffer and several cans of motor oil.

THEFT: Northern District -- A woman reported that while she was attending a party at a home in the 300 block of Homeland Ave. last week, someone stole her camera. The victim told police the camera was valued at more than $150.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 5700 block of Roland Ave. and stole several pieces of jewelry. Police said the jewelry was valued at more than $5,000 and entry was gained through an open window.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 6000 block of Marjorie Ave. reported that someone entered his home Monday and stole a TV and a VCR. Police said the property was valued at nearly $2,000 and entry appeared to have been with a key.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone used the identity of a resident of the 3400 block of N. Charles St. to withdraw a large sum of money from the victim's bank. Officials at the First National Bank in the first block of N. Charles St. reported that shortly after Dec. 20, someone filled out a withdrawal slip using the victim's identification and withdrew $6,300. Police said an investigation of the incident revealed that the victim did not withdraw the money. Police said they had no leads as to who withdrew the money.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 200 block of Lambeth Road reported that someone broke into his home and stole a wallet and a purse, both containing cash and personal affects. Police said entry was gained through a bathroom window and the property was valued at more then $900.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 1000 block of Rectory Lane reported that someone entered the back yard of his home Monday or yesterday and stole his $150 multispeed mountain bike. A neighbor of the victim told police she saw a man enter the yard and unlock the bike.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that property valued at nearly $2,000 was stolen from a dwelling in the 5700 block of Ridgedale Road after someone entered through a basement door. They said the intruder escaped with cash, jewelry, a military rifle, two watches, a camera and a sword.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 3600 block of Cottage Ave. reported that a former roommate moved out of the house Monday and took stereo equipment that did not belong to her. The victim told police the property was valued at $100.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police said someone broke into a dwelling in the 700 block of Evesham Ave. and stole property valued at $900. Police said entry was gained through a basement door and the intruder stole a leather jacket and several pieces of personal computer equipment.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police said a man was being sought in the theft of more than $100 from a security box inside a house in the 400 block of E. 27th St. The victim told police that someone he knows entered his home yesterday and removed the money from the box.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A Towson man was getting out of his car in the 3600 block of Frisby St. around 10 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one with a semiautomatic handgun. Police said the men robbed him of cash and his leather jacket. Police said the victim's keys were in a jacket pocket, but the gunman and his accomplice did not steal the car. Police said the jacket, cash and keys had a combined value of more than $200.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A man walking in the 900 block of N. Gilmor St. Monday night was accosted by two men, one with a handgun, who robbed him of his wallet. Police said the gunman and his accomplice escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $200.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Employees of Mace-Fremont Building Materials in the 1100 block of N. Fremont Ave. reported that someone broke into the building over the weekend and stole 35 sheets of plywood. Police said the plywood was valued at more than $400 and entry was gained by knocking a hole in an exterior wall.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A woman walking in the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Ave. Monday night was stopped by two men who robbed her of nearly $150. Police said no weapon was displayed.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he robbed a woman of a small sum of money in the 2200 block of W. Baltimore St. Police said the victim was standing in the 2200 block of W. Baltimore St. early yesterday when a man walked by and stole $10 she was holding. After the man fled, the woman told police, she saw him enter a nearby house. In the house, police confronted a man fitting the description of the person who stole the money. They said the man was arrested after the woman identified him. Police said that, after charges were placed against the man, he would appear at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 3800 block of Stokes Drive reported that someone broke into her home Monday and stole a telephone and several pieces of jewelry. Police said the property was valued at more than $100.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said a man walking in the 500 block of Hazlett Ave. Monday night was accosted by a man with a handgun who stole his wallet. Police said the gunman escaped with cash and property, all valued at $50.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Employees of the Chesapeake Bay Shipping Co. in the 1100 block of Wilso Drive reported that someone broke into the building Monday night and stole an $800 fax machine. Police said entry was gained by forcing open the front door.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man with a handgun yesterday robbed a man while he walked in the 1500 block of Poplar Grove St. Police said the gunman escaped with less than $40.

Baltimore County

ARREST: Essex District -- Police last night arrested a woman and charged her with the attempted murder of her boyfriend during an argument in their home in the 2200 block of Hawthorne Road. Police said James E. Guy, 23, was arguing with the woman when she picked up a knife and tried to stab him in the chest. Police said Guy used his left hand to fend off the blow and was cut. Following the incident, the man was taken to a hospital, treated and released. Police said Joanne R. Rowan, 24, was arrested at the scene without incident and charged with assault with intent to murder and using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. Police said Rowan was to appear today at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Towson District -- A 15-year-old student at Parkville Senior High School told police he was robbed yesterday afternoon while playing basketball at Hillendale Elementary School. The victim, whose name was not released because of his age, told police he was shooting baskets on an outdoor court around 3:30 p.m. when he was approached by two youths who demanded he give up his coat, cap and portable radio. He told police one of the youths kept one hand in his coat pocket as though armed and threatened to shoot him if he didn't cooperate. Police said the victim gave up his property to the other youths and all escaped on foot. Police said the value of the victim's property was not immediately known.

Anne Arundel County

DRUG ARRESTS: Freetown -- Police arrested two men in Freetown Village over the weekend and charged them with possession of crack cocaine. After seeing what appeared to be drug activity between the men, police approached them and conducted a search. On one of the men, police said, they found 43 rocks of crack cocaine. Charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute were Michael Moye, 20, of no fixed address, and Ernest D. Boney, 20, of the 7800 block of Willing Court in Freetown.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Hanover -- Responding to a burglar alarm at the Jamesway department store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road early Monday, police sent a K-9 unit into the store to search for a burglar. Police said that several minutes after the dog and its handler entered the building, they found a man trying to escape by climbing into the ceiling. Police said when the man was ordered down from the ceiling, he fell to the floor and broke an ankle. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and then released into police custody. Police said the store was entered by knocking a hole in an exterior wall. Charged with burglary was Ted Eugene Ussery, 34, of the 8200 block of Clearwater Court in Severn.

ROBBERY TRY: Brooklyn Park -- Police said two men attempted to rob a jogger early Sunday as he ran in an alley behind Brooklyn Park Plaza on Ritchie Highway. The jogger told police he was running around 4 a.m. Sunday when he was attacked by two men, one with a handgun, who knocked him to the pavement and demanded his money. After getting up, the jogger struck one of the men in the face and fled. Police said the gunman and his accomplice then fled.

Baltimore City

SHOOTING: Western District -- A man was shot in the chest and seriously injured early today while scuffling with a police officer in an alley between Calverton Road and Wheeler Avenue. Police said the officer, whose name has not been released, was chasing a man down the alley shortly after 2 a.m. when the man stopped and reportedly pulled out a handgun. Police said when the gunman pointed the weapon at the officer, the officer tackled the man and both of them fell to the pavement. During the ensuing scuffle, police said, the man was pointing his gun at the officer's face when the officer pulled out his handgun and shot the man in the chest. Police said the officer was not injured and that the wounded man was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was admitted in serious condition. It was not immediately known why the officer was chasing the man down the alley.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said a resident of the 800 block of Mount Holly St. was walking in the 4100 block of Cranston Ave. around 10 a.m. yesterday when she was attacked from behind by a man who robbed her of her purse. Police said the man escaped with an unknown sum of cash and that the woman was not injured.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said two men, one carrying a piece of wood, stopped a woman in the 2000 block of Hollins St. around 6 p.m. yesterday and ordered her to give up her money while threatening her with the weapon. The victim, a resident of the 1100 block of N. Carrollton Ave., told police the men escaped with more than $30.
