SCHOOL CALENDAR ALTERED

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Faced with budgetary considerations, the Anne Arundel County Board of Education has made changes in the current school calendar that affect spring break for students and in-school days this month and in April.

All students will be off from school Jan. 27-28, when high school conferences are held. Elementary and middle school teachers also will be off those days.

All schools will be open Jan. 29, which marks the start of the third marking period. Students and staff will be in school.

Studentsalso will attend school April 6, a day previously scheduled as a professional development day.

Spring break is still planned for April17-20, with April 21-22 added on.

Semester testing in the spring now takes place June 17-19. June 19 is also the last day for students.

These board-approved changes will help the school system to cut spending while still providing 180 days of instruction.
