YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Tariq Saunders and Darren Woods scored six points apiece, as Coppin State used a 17-5 burst in the opening five minutes of the second half to break open a close game in Coppin State's 84-65 triumph over Youngstown at the Beeghly Center last night.

Woods and Saunders, the Eagles' top two scorers on the season, had 22 and 21, respectively, and received impressive help from newcomer Marcus Robinson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Salem, N.J. Starting his fourth game, Robinson scored 15, six more than his average.

Coach Fang Mitchell put an eighth different lineup on the floor for Coppin's 11th game, and it was Youngstown that took charge early. Mike Alcorn had 17 first-half points, and Coppin did not catch the home team until the closing three minutes. Woods and Saunders teamed for seven of the last 11 of the half, as the Eagles took a 40-34 edge.
