ROBBERY: Eastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Lester Morton Court reported to police Monday that while he was walking in the 1600 block of Ashland Ave. around noon he was approached from the rear by a man who struck him on the back of the head with an unknown hard object and robbed him of his gold-plated money clip and cash. Police said the man escaped with more than $300.

ROBBERY: Eastern District -- Police said a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with the armed robbery of a woman as she walked across the parking lot of the Department of Social Services building in the 300 block of E. Biddle St. Monday morning. Police said the victim, a 33-year-old East 20th Street resident, was walking toward her car around 11 a.m. Monday when she was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who forced her to give up the purse she was carrying. Police said the purse contained cash and property, all valued at nearly $300. Later, police investigating the robbery spotted a man answering the description of the robber and arrested him a short distance from the scene. Police said more than $80 taken in the robbery was recovered. Charged with armed robbery and using a handgun in the commission of a felony was Charles Jones, 35, of the 1600 block of Liljones Court in the Hollander Ridge section.

THEFT: Eastern District -- A resident of the 2500 block of Dulaney St. reported to police that while his car was parked in the 100 block of N. Montford Ave. Monday afternoon someone broke into the vehicle and stole property valued at more than $300. The victim told police the thief took several hand and power drills and that entry was gained by using an unknown device to pry open a window.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 3100 block of Abell Ave. reported that someone broke into his home by forcing a rear kitchen door and stole a VCR, compact disc player, TV and stereo equipment. Police said the value of the property was not immediately known.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police were seeking a man who entered a woman's home in the 2700 block of Mathews St. Monday and stole a cassette tape player and other items. The occupant told police the property was valued at $600. Police said the woman was advised to seek a warrant for the man's arrest.

THEFT: Northern District -- Officials of the Hoffberger Professional Center in the 2400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. reported that someone entered an unlocked room over the weekend and stole a TV. Police said the property was valued at $400.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police said a resident of the 400 block of St. George's Ave. was walking near his home shortly before 5 p.m. Monday when he was accosted by a man armed with a meat cleaver who demanded he give up his money. Police said the victim gave the armed man his wallet containing more than $100. Police said a search of the immediate area of the robbery failed to locate the robber.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Police reported a man stole a gold herringbone chain while looking at it yesterday inside Cash U.S.A. in the 2400 block of E. Monument St. Police said three men entered the store around 3 p.m. yesterday and while two browsed around looking at jewelry, the third asked to see a gold chain. Police said the man looking at the chain suddenly turned and fled out the door with the jewelry. The other men followed moments later. Police said all three escaped and that the chain was valued at $1,700.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a car Monday afternoon while the vehicle was parked in the 400 block of N. Colvin St. and stole an in--- radio. Police said the radio was valued at $300 and was the property of a 32-year-old out-of-town resident.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Police today were seeking a man who threatened a woman's baby with a broken bottle and then robbed the woman of more than $200 in food stamps. Police said the woman, a resident of South Dallas Street, was pushing a baby stroller in the 400 block of S. Broadway shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday when she was stopped by a man. Police said the man ordered the woman to give him money and then picked up a broken bottle from the pavement and threatened to cut her child if she didn't comply. Fearing the man would cut her child, the woman gave the man $276 in food stamps. After taking the food stamps, the man fled. Police said neither the woman or her child were injured.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Two men, both residents of the Bonnie Ridge Apartments in Baltimore County, were robbed of their money around 10 p.m. yesterday as they walked away from a 24-hour automated teller machine in the 1800 block of E. Monument St. The victims, who live in the 6800 and 6900 blocks of Harrowdale Road, told police they were about to leave the automated teller machine outside the Maryland National Bank after one of them withdrew $10 when they were stopped by two men, one armed with an unknown caliber handgun, who demanded they give up their money. Police said one of the men gave up the $10 he had withdrawn and that the other gave the gunman $51 from his wallet.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- A female resident of the 200 block of S. Dallas Court told police that a man she knows entered her home without her permission and stole property valued at $500. Police said when the victim returned home around 7 p.m. yesterday, she found her brother inside the house. When the woman asked her brother how he opened the locked front door, he said that a man his sister knows arrived while he was sitting on the front steps and entered with a key. Police said while the brother was waiting for his sister to return home, the other man reportedly stole a TV and a VCR before leaving.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 5900 block of York Road reported that someone pried off a metal grate over a window at her home early yesterday morning and set off an alarm. The intruder fled without taking any property, police said.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone removed the right front tire and rim from a 1988 Saab while the vehicle was parked in the 700 block of E. Lake Ave. The owner of the car, also a resident of the 700 block of E. Lake Ave., told police the equipment was valued at $500.

THEFT: Northern District -- Employees of the Western Auto store in the 2800 block of Greenmount Ave. told police that a man they know left the store without paying for a 2.5-ton hydraulic auto jack. Police said the jack was valued at $100 and that a warrant was to be issued for the man's arrest.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police today were seeking a man who stole a case of antifreeze from inside the Oles envelope company in the 500 block of E. 25th St. Employees of the company told police they saw the man pushing a cart containing the antifreeze out of the building but were unable to catch him. Police said the antifreeze was valued at nearly $200.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 600 block of Melville Ave. told police that a relative of hers entered her home yesterday afternoon and stole more than $250 in food stamps. Police said the woman was advised to seek a warrant for the man's arrest or a summons ordering him to court to answer a theft charge.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY: Parkville District -- Police reported that a man armed with a knife robbed the High's dairy store in the 7400 block of Belair Road of an undisclosed sum last night. Police said the man entered the store shortly before 9 p.m. and brandished a knife at an employee while she stood behind the counter. After the clerk gave the man the contents of the cash register, he left the store and escaped in an unknown direction.

ROBBERY: Essex District -- Police said an Essex resident was walking in the 300 block of Southeastern Terrace Monday night when he was stopped by two men, one armed with a handgun, who demanded his money. Police said the victim complied, giving the gunman and his accomplice an undisclosed sum.

ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- Three Woodlawn-area men reported to police that they were robbed of their money and valuables Monday night when they were accosted by four men, three of them armed with handguns, as they walked in the 8500 block of Glenmichael Lane. Police said that during the robbery all three victims were pistol-whipped by one of the gunman and that at least one shot was fired. Police said none of the three victims was hit by the bullet. Later, police investigating the incident traced the path of the bullet and found that it had shattered a window of a nearby dwelling. Police said the three gunmen and the unarmed fourth man escaped with cash and property, all of unknown value.

Anne Arundel County

DRUG ARREST: Glen Burnie -- County police arrested a Pasadena man Sunday following a traffic stop and charged him with possession of PCP. Police said officers stopped a motorist at the intersection of Md. 648 and Faywood Drive when they noticed the car he was driving did not have a front license plate. While the officers were talking to the man, they smelled what appeared to be PCP and searched the car. In the glove compartment, the officers found a partially burned PCP cigarette and a small bag containing the drug. Police said the motorist, Larry Benton Smith, 30, of the 700 block of 213th St., was taken to the Northern District station and charged. Bail information on Smith was not available.

BURGLARY: Brooklyn Park -- A resident of the 100 block of Church St. reported that someone broke into his home by forcing a door and stole several appliances and other personal and household items. Police said the property was valued at more than $5,000.

BURGLARY: Glen Burnie -- Police said money and appliances were stolen from a dwelling in the 400 block of Glen Mar Road after someone gained entry through a bedroom window. Police said the property was valued at more than $2,000.

BURGLARY: Linthicum -- Police said tools valued at $400 were stolen from a dwelling in the 700 block of Hawthorne Road after someone gained entry by forcing a door.

BURGLARY: Linthicum -- A resident of the 100 block of Kingbrook Road reported that someone broke into his home by forcing a sliding glass door and stole household appliances valued at nearly $200.

Harford County

ROBBERY: Joppatowne -- Sheriff's deputies and the State Police today were seeking a man who robbed a convenience store last night and escaped with an undisclosed sum. Deputy First Class DeWayne Curry, of the Sheriff's Department, said a man wearing a hip-length blue down jacket, blue jeans and blue tennis shoes entered the High's dairy store on Joppa Farm Road at 8:40 p.m. yesterday and asked the clerk to give him change for a dollar bill. Curry said the man left the store and was seen walking toward a pay phone outside. Five minutes later, Curry said, the man returned and ordered the clerk to give him the contents of the cash register while implying he was armed with a handgun. After taking the money, the man ran out of the store and was last seen running west on Joppa Farm Road toward the Joppatowne post office. Curry said a search by ground units, including a K-9 unit, failed to find the robber.
