RICHMOND, Va. -- Loyola College made up all but one of a 17-point second-half deficit, but the University of Richmond hung on for a 68-64 non-conference victory at the Robins Center last night.

Down by 59-42 when Kenny Wood followed a shot with 6 minutes, 47 seconds left, the Greyhounds closed to 65-64 with 35 seconds to go. Michael Reese had 10 of the 22 Loyola points, and Tracy Bergan and Kevin Anderson completed the run with six points each. They wrapped it up with a 12-1 run in a four-minute span.

Loyola shot 60 percent from the field in gaining a 32-28 halftime lead, but the Spiders scored the first 11 points in the opening six minutes of the second half.

Reese finished with a game-high 31 points. Reserve Kevin Anderson was the only other visitor in double figures with 11.

The Greyhounds also got a solid game from point guard Bergan, who finished with eight points, seven assists, four rebounds and one turnover in 34 minutes.

Scoring leader Kevin Green made only three of 11 shots from the floor for six points, ending his string of consecutive double-figure games at 41. The senior guard is averaging 17 shots a game, but was hounded by a harassing Richmond defense.

Loyola, taking a third straight loss, shot 52.8 percent from the field to 44 for the Spiders (their average). Curtis Blair led the winners with 14 points.
