2 slaying victims are identified by police

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

City police today identified two people who were slain on the last two days of 1991. One was a teen-ager from New York City who allegedly was dealing narcotics.

Eric Barton, 16, of Manhattan, was identified as the shooting victim found Monday in the 2200 block of W. Baltimore St. He had been shot in the head.

Homicide Detective Scott Keller said an investigation determined that Barton had brought drugs from New York to sell in Baltimore.

Police also identified 33-year-old Rickey Sorrell as the city's 304th and final homicide victim of last year.

Sorrell, of the 2500 block of Salem St., was found Tuesday evening in the street in front of a house in the 800 block of N. Gilmor St.

He had been shot once behind the left ear at close range, police said.

Police reported no suspects in either case.
