Ross makes it official, joins Chargers

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Bobby Ross, who Tuesday quit Georgia Tech and agreed to become San Diego's coach, officially joined the Chargers yesterday.

Ross said he may bring several Georgia Tech assistants with him and that he has interviewed three former Chargers assistants -- offensive line coach Alex Gibbs, defensive line coach Chuck Clausen and offensive backs coach Bobby Jackson -- but has not decided whether to offer them jobs.

* PACKERS: Team officials expect to know by the weekend whether former Giants coach Bill Parcells will fill their coaching vacancy.

Parcells, who rejected a five-year, $6.5 million offer from the Buccaneers on Sunday, met Wednesday in New Jersey with Packers general manager Ron Wolf. Wolf said he did not offer Parcells a contract.

Wolf interviewed Raiders offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie last night.

* BUCCANEERS: Former Bengals coach Sam Wyche was scheduled to meet with Tampa Bay management today about its coaching vacancy.
