Rosedale girl, 8, feared abducted, found unharmed

An 8-year-old girl, who residents of a Rosedale community thought had been abducted Sunday, was found unharmed yesterday, Baltimore County police said.

Sgt. Stephen R. Doarnberger, a police spokesman, said the girl had never been abducted. Contrary to earlier reports, Sergeant Doarnberger said the girl's mother and a male companion picked her up at Neighbors and Boaz avenues, the site of the alleged abduction.

Initially, three youngsters told police they saw three men on bicycles dragging off a girl, who they said was about 4 years old. Yesterday, police canvassed the neighborhood, talked to the youngsters again and determined what really happened.

The girl's mother took her home because she was having a hard time riding a pair of skates. A half-hour before that happened, the three men rode through the neighborhood on their bikes.

For some reason, said Sergeant Doarnberger, the three youngsters confused the two situations.
