BUS STOP ELIMINATED

Beginning Jan. 6, the Harford County Transportation Services' Town-to-Town bus won't be stopping in front of the J.M. Huber Co. on Revolution Street in Havre de Grace.

That's because Huber officials haveannounced plans for renovation that will eliminate sufficient space for a bus stop.

A new Havre de Grace stop is expected to be announced soon; county administrators say suggestions are welcome.

HISTORIC HOME SOLD

Normally, it's not news when a house in Bel Air is sold.

Town administrators, however, have been celebrating the first sale of a home that falls within the town's designated historic district -- the 1896 Wilgis-Bennett House on East Broadway.

"It sold within two weeks. It was sold by Esther Bennett to a Harford County attorney, Bill Bolton," said Liz Carven, the town's community development administrator, who said she did not know the selling price.

The book "Bel Air: The Town Through Its Buildings" describes the Wilgis-Bennett house as "perhaps the best example of the front-gable Victorian house on Broadway.
