Elizabeth G. Nightingale, 84, died Dec. 19...

Elizabeth G. Nightingale, 84, died Dec. 19 at Carroll Lutheran Village. An Allegany County resident, she was the widow of Samuel J. Nightingale. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Charles Ruppert of Westminster, and two grandchildren.

DATELINE: Hampstead

Heinrich Eichenberg, 87, died Dec. 22 at Longview Nursing Home. He was the husband of Alma Fischer Eichenberg. A cabinetmaker, he was a native of Germany. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Frederick Eichenberg of Baltimore and Hartmut Eichenberg of Virginia;a daughter, Minne Sonntag of here; and five grandchildren.

Anna F. Tull, 86, a former resident here, died Dec. 20 at Manokin Nursing Home in Princess Anne. She was the wife of the late Clarence F. Tull. She had worked as a secretary for the federal government. Survivors include a daughter, Leslie T. Corrigan of Glen Burnie; a son, Stuart E. Tull of Marion Station; a sister-in-law, Harriet E. Tull of here; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Russell W. Martin, 63, died Dec. 22 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Christine C. Martin. A World War II veteran, he was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion and the Veterans of ForeignWars in Emmitsburg. He was employed with H. L. Hartz Clothing Manufacturers in Frederick. Additional survivors include sisters MargueriteKoontz of Littlestown, Pa., Alice Harley of Frederick and Sherley Moss of Walkersville; and brothers Maurice C. Martin of Gettysburg, Pa.; J. Floyd Martin of Louisiana, Kenneth E. Martin of Colorado, DonaldL. Martin of Union Bridge and Richard A. Martin of Emmitsburg.

DATELINE: Mount Airy

Pearl F. Covey, 77, died Tuesday at Baltimore County General Hospital. He was the husband of Ida L. Covey. He was a heavy equipment operator. Additional survivors include a daughter, LauraC. Thomas of Finksburg; sons Nimrod "Buddy" Covey and Norman L. Covey, both of West Virginia, and Donald J. Covey of here; a sister, ParaLee Lyttle of Virginia; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert D. Kelly, 87, died Dec. 22 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was the husband of Anna L. Kelly. He worked for Steamfitters Local 438 and was a member of the Moose Lodge. A daughter, Muriel J. Deal of here, and four grandchildren survive.

Charles A. Carlton, 54, died Dec. 19. He was the husband of Harriet A. Carlton. An attorney, he maintained a practice in Rockville and here. Past president of the Germantown Lions Club, he also was past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in youth groups, coaching several teams.In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Charles A. Carlton II of Texas, Christopher O. Carlton and Curtis S. Carlton, both of here; and brothers Martin Carlton of Washington state and Peter Carlton of Clarksburg. The family requests memorial contributions to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown, where he was a member.

DATELINE: New Windsor

Blanche W. Walker, 98, a former resident here,died Tuesday. She was the wife of the late Allan F. Walker. She had been a seamstress. Surviving is a niece, Imogene Leister of Manchester, and several other nieces and nephews. The family requests memorialcontributions to Northminster Presbyterian Church, Reisterstown, where she had been a member.

Charles D. Fritz, 80, died Monday at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husband of Cathryn Hyde Fritz. A lifelong farmer, he also operated a county school bus for more than 50 years. An avid baseball fan, he was a member of the Old TimersBaseball Association. Other survivors include a daughter, Peggy Sue Conrad of here; sisters Helen Talbert of Medford and Elizabeth Zile of Westminster; a brother, R. James Fritz of Westminster; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial contributions to St. John Leisters Lutheran Church, 827 Leisters Church Road, Westminster, where he was a member.

Charles R. Hammond, 68, died Dec. 20 at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husbandof Berenetta E. Hammond. He was a retired truck driver. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Robert Wims of Frederick and Charles Hammond Jr. of here; daughters Bernice Tyler of Mount Airy, Rose Kelly of Westminster and Deloris of here; a brother, Albert Hammond of Gaithersburg; sisters Olla Tyler of Frederick, Laura May Hammond ofFort Washington and Eleanor Jones of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pauline I. Doffmeyer, 65, died Dec. 19 at Carroll County General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Doffmeyer. She recently had worked for the Baltimore County Maintenance Division in Reisterstown. Survivors include sons Jerry L. Doffmeyer Sr. of Taneytown, Joseph E. Doffmeyer of Mount Airy and LarryJ. Doffmeyer of Baltimore; daughters Joyce M. Seabolt of Union Millsand Janet D. Murray of Westminster; brothers Ralph Baugher of Essex,Elwood Baugher of Detour and Glen Baugher, Eugene Baugher and John Baugher, all of Frederick; sisters Madline Watson of Essex and Betty Jane Harris of Libertytown; an aunt, Helen Kelly of Libertytown; and nine grandchildren.

DATELINE: Owings Mills

Charles C. Winebarger, 78, died Thursday. A retired truck driver, he was the husband of EthelReter Winebarger. Additional survivors include a son, C. Thomas Winebarger of Reisterstown; daughters Wanda C. Kowanic of here and CherylA. Winebarger of Mount Airy; sisters Mable White and Ann Grimes, both of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.

Catherine O. Diehl, 67, died Monday at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson. A Baltimore County resident, she was the husband of Milton H. Diehl. Additional survivors include two sisters, H. Neva Cecil of Westminster and A. Pauline Seward of here, and a brother, Leonard L. Sprinkle of Westminster.

DATELINE: Sykesville

Kathryn Day Etzler, 90, died Thursday at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore. She was the wife of the late Harry Etzler.

Paul E. Easton, 70, died Tuesday at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husband of Ednamae Webb Easton. A retired rural mail carrier here, he was a Purple Heart veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. Additional survivors include adaughter, Paula J. Mansville of North Carolina; sons Leonard P. Easton of here and Gary Easton of Finksburg; and seven grandchildren.

John D. Keefer, 73, died Dec. 22 at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred L. Keefer. A dairy farmer, he also had worked as a correctional officer. Other survivors include sons Michael D. Keefer of here and Alvin W. Keefer of Westminster; a daughter, Nina E. Ecker of Woodbine; and eight grandchildren.

DATELINE: Union Bridge

James D. "Champ" Maxwell, 49, died Wednesday after a long illness. He was the son of Hazel Spence Dillon and the late James D. Maxwell, and the stepson of Harvey L. Dillon. Other survivors include a brother, David W. Maxwell, and a sister, Tisha Dillon, all of CarrollCounty, and a foster brother, John Britton of Tennessee. Interment will be at 1 p.m. today at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

DATELINE: Westminster

Mary Cora Schneider, 83, died Wednesday at Carroll CountyGeneral Hospital. She was the wife of the late Leighton A. Schneider. Survivors include daughters Miriam S. Hylton of Virginia, Phyllis S. Rice of here and Lois M. Duble of New Windsor; a son, L. Mitchell Schneider of Baltimore; sisters Helen Eyler of New Windsor and Bessie Schneider of Florida; a brother, Clifford B. Alexander of Mount Airy;seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hazel M. Carrington, 83, died Dec. 21 at her home. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Carrington. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth J. Derry of here; a son, Charles E. Carrington Jr. of Delaware; a sister, Katheryn Greif of Baltimore; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

DATELINE: Woodbine

Joseph G. Burch, 81, died Dec. 19 at Fort Howard Veteran's Hospital in Baltimore County. He was the husband of Kathryne B. Burch. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Mount Airy American Legion. Retired from Southern Supply Co., he had been a security guard at South Carroll High School. Additional survivors include a stepson, William Knotts Sr. of Church Hill; sisters Alice Ray of Baltimore and Lillian Dolan of Aberdeen; and three step-grandchildren.
