"Christmas Melodies" is the theme of the Christmas Display, continuing through Jan. 5 at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa. You can visit any day, including Christmas and New Year's, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to find decorated trees, Christmas flowers and plants, lights and music.
Christmas trees are decorated by area garden clubs to represent popular holiday songs, such as "Sleigh Ride," "Silver and Gold" and "The Night Before Christmas."
One of the main attractions is the brilliant display of red, pink and white poinsettias arranged in various forms from hanging baskets to tree decorations. Outdoors a colored fountain display of lights and water set to holiday music runs continuously between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., while 200,000 lights twinkle from treetops. Hourly sing-alongs are held between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily through Jan. 1. Admission is $8 for adults, $2 for ages 6 to 14, free for 5 and under.
