Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken, the American League's Most Valuable Player, leads the list of head-table guests for the 39th Tops in Sports banquet Jan. 10 at Towson State University.

The affair will highlight the 1971 season, in which Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar and Pat Dobson each won 20 games for the Orioles. All four will attend.

Palmer will receive the Jack Dunn Award for community service, and Moe Drabowsky will be recognized as the first modern Oriole to win a World Series game. Orioles general manager Roland Hemond will be honored with the Edwin Rommel Award for long and distinguished service to baseball.

The active and retroactive Babe Ruth Crowns will be presented to the Detroit Tigers' Cecil Fielder, the American League home run and RBI leader, and Rocky Colavito, who hit four home runs for the Cleveland Indians at Memorial Stadium on June 10, 1959.

Hall of Famers Phil Niekro and Bob Feller are expected to attend.
