ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that two men robbed a check cashing company in the 5500 block of Sinclair Lane of several thousand dollars. Police said a female employee was locking the front door of the Money Service Center shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday when she was accosted from the rear by two men and ordered back inside. There, the woman was forced to empty cash drawers and give the money to the men.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Loch Raven Blvd. reported that someone broke into her home through a side door and stole a radio and a TV, together valued at more than $600.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Property valued at nearly $1,000 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 5600 block of Frankford Ave. after someone gained entry by opening a rear patio door. Police said the burglar escaped with a TV and a microwave oven.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke in through a basement window of a dwelling in the 4600 block of Mary Ave. and stole three new guitars valued at more than $5,000.

ARSON: Northeastern District -- Police today continue to seek the person who set fire to the front of an apartment building in the 2000 block of Woodbourne Ave. Police said someone poured a flammable liquid through the mail slot of a dwelling at the Barclay Square Apartments shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday and then set it ablaze with a match. Police said the fire extensively damaged the door and part of the floor. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported among the tenants.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 900 block of Marlau Drive reported that someone broke into his home through a basement window sometime Wednesday or yesterday and stole several pieces of stereo equipment valued at $3,000.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police said a leather coat and several pieces of jewelry, all valued at more than $1,200, were stolen early yesterday from a dwelling in the 2400 block of W. Cold Spring Lane after someone entered through an unlocked door.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police reported that a man with a handgun robbed the Richwood food mart in the 600 block of Richwood Ave. yesterday of $60 and a pack of cigarettes. Employees of the store told police a man entered shortly before 10 a.m. and placed a pack of cigarettes on the counter. The man then pulled out a handgun and ordered a clerk to empty the cash register. The robber ran off with the money and the cigarettes.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police said someone entered the Colonnade apartment building in the first block of W. University Parkway and stole a ram's head statue valued at $500.

THEFT: Northern District -- Employees of the Honey Baked Ham Co. in the 500 block of E. Belvedere Ave. reported that someone entered their store yesterday afternoon and stole more than $500 from the cash register.

THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a male juvenile yesterday and charged him with stealing a watchdog from the National Car and Truck Service in the 1600 block of W. 41st St. Police said employees knew the youth and suspected him of the theft. Police recovered the dog, valued at more than $500, and released the juvenile to the custody of his parents.

THEFT: Northern District -- Theodore Wadzinski, of the 2800 block of N. Calvert St., reported that someone entered his home yesterday and stole a watch and a coat, together valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 3700 block of Roland Ave. reported that someone broke into his home yesterday and stole a TV and cash, all valued at $700.

THEFT: Northern District -- Hilda Petersam, of the 3300 block of Woodstock Ave., told police that someone broke into her parked car in the 4700 block of York Road yesterday afternoon and stole her purse. The loss was put at more than $600.

THEFT: Northern District -- Rosemary Thompson, of the 5800 block of Bellona Ave., reported that someone broke into her parked car in the 500 block of E. Belvedere Ave. yesterday and stole a briefcase and several other items, all valued at more than $1,000.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone climbed a fire escape at a dwelling in the first block of E. 33rd St. yesterday, entered through an unlocked window and stole a set of headphones and a VCR, together valued at nearly $400.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Barbara James, of the 4700 block of Dartford Road, reported she was walking near her home last evening when she was approached from the rear by a man who stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at $20.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said a pizza deliveryman was in the 4200 block of Connecticut Ave. yesterday when he was accosted by two men, one with a handgun. The victim, James Crawford, of the 6700 block of Townbrook Drive in Woodlawn, told police the gunman and his accomplice escaped with more than $80.

ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Western District -- Police yesterday arrested six men and charged each with the armed robbery of Edward Mickle, of the 1900 block of N. Woodyear St. All were charged also with possession of a handgun while committing a felony. Police said Mickle was in the 2100 block of Etting St. around 7 a.m. yesterday when several men, one with a handgun, robbed him of a small sum of money. The suspects were identified as Michael Bessicks, 21, of the 1200 block of Bonaparte Ave.; Kenneth Grossman, 22, of the 700 block of Druid Lake Park Drive; David Hall, 23, of the 800 block of Edmondson Ave.; Terry Brown, 20, of the 1400 block of McCulloh St.; Michael Harrington, 21, of the 1400 block of McCulloh St.; and Quinton Grossman, 16, of the 2100 block of Etting St. Police said all six were held overnight at the police lockup in lieu of $150,000 bail pending a bail review hearing today in District Court.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Vonda Floyd, of the 1800 block of Lauretta Ave., reported that a male acquaintance assaulted her at her home yesterday morning and robbed her of a small sum of money. Police said Floyd was not seriously injured.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Raymond Garnett, of the 1900 block of W. Baltimore St., reported he was robbed of his wallet yesterday morning a block from his home when he was stopped by three teen-agers, one of whom had a handgun. Police said Garnett gave up his wallet to the youths, who fled. Garnett told police the wallet contained no money.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Employees of the 2 Spot Lounge in the first block of Wheeler Ave. reported that someone broke into their business through a rear door and stole $50 from the cash register.

BREAK-IN: Western District -- Police said someone knocked a hole in a rear wall at Eurco cleaners in the 2200 block of N. Fulton Ave. between Wednesday night and yesterday morning and stole more than $100.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported that Ivan Henderson, of the first block of Milden Court, was walking in the 800 block of Vine St. last evening when a man with a handgun stopped him and demanded money. Henderson gave the gunman more than $20, and the bandit fled.

Baltimore County

ANIMAL CRUELTY: Freeland -- Police at the Cockeysville District are seeking the person or persons who apparently killed a cat and used its blood to draw part of a cult-like design on the ground outside a man's barn off the 1100 block of Freeland Road. Sean Lawlor told Officer Russell Fuller he was walking toward his barn Wednesday night to feed some livestock when he noticed blood on a garden tractor parked outside the barn. Nearby, Lawlor told Fuller, he found a blood-stained hatchet and bloodied tufts of cat fur. Outside the barn he discovered a circle 2 feet in diameter drawn in the ground. A hexagon was drawn in blood in the middle of the circle, Lawlor reported. Lawlor said he believes someone killed one of several cats he owns but he was unable to identify which cat. Police said anyone having information about the incident is urged to call the station at 887-1820.

ROBBERY: Towson District -- Police reported that two men, one with a semiautomatic handgun, robbed the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant and carryout in the 2200 block of E. Joppa Road Wednesday afternoon. Police said the gunman entered the building shortly after 3 o'clock and accosted the manager, ordering him to remove money from the safe. While that robbery was going on, a second man entered the restaurant and robbed the cashier at the drive-through window. Police said both men fled out the front door with an undisclosed sum of cash.

ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- Police today continue their search for a man who identified himself as a police officer before robbing a woman of her money after he offered her a ride Wednesday night. Yvonne Spener, 28, whose address was not available, told police she was standing at a bus stop at Liberty Road and St. Luke's Lane shortly after 10 o'clock seeking a ride into the city when a motorist stopped. Spener told police that after she got into the car, the man said he would drive her to her destination for $5. Instead of driving her to the city, the man drove her to the old Woodlawn police station on Windsor Mill Road, where he told her he was a police officer. Spener said the man struck her and took $40 from her purse, telling her it would be used as evidence against her for an unknown offense if she reported the incident. After the man drove off, Spener reported the robbery.

BURGLARY: Cockeysville District -- A resident of the 1300 block of Mount Carmel Road reported that someone broke into his home early yesterday morning and stole a TV, a VCR and a handgun, all valued at more than $1,200.

ROBBERIES: Woodlawn District -- Police said two women leaving a business in the Milford Mill shopping center in the 8000 block of Liberty Road last night were robbed of their property by two men, one with a handgun. Police said Lonnia Joyce Greene, 24, of the 3500 block of Hilton Road, and Roxane Denise Jones, 19, of the 7200 block of Kennebunk Road in Woodlawn, were leaving a business shortly after 8 p.m. when they were stopped by the men and ordered to drop their purses. Police said the women complied and the gunman and his accomplice escaped with cash and property of unknown value.

Carroll County

MAIL THEFT/ARRESTS: Westminster -- Guy Raymond Mettle Jr., 20, of Westminster and two juveniles were arrested earlier in the week and charged with larceny of mail from curbside mail boxes in front of houses in Westminster and Hampstead. Police said mail, some of it containing money, was taken from nearly 30 mailboxes Tuesday. After police and U.S. postal authorities received information about people seen throwing away letters and envelopes, they learned the names of suspects and arrested them Tuesday. Following Mettle's arrest, he was taken to District Court and charged. Police said the juveniles were charged by juvenile authorities with mail theft and released into the custody of their parents pending action in juvenile court.
