THEFT: Northern District -- Vicky Owen, of the 5800 block of Roland Ave., reported that someone entered her property Tuesday or yesterday and removed several feet of copper downspouting from the side of her home. Owen told police the thief also stole a 6-foot Christmas tree that she recently purchased. Police said the total value of the downspouting and the tree was more than $200.
ROBBERY TRY: Northern District -- James Rowe, of the 3700 block of W. Garrison Ave., told police he was in the 2400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. early yesterday morning when he was stopped by an armed man who placed the weapon into his back and demanded money. Rowe reported to police that when he told the gunman he had no money, the gunman pressed the weapon to his head and threatened to shoot him. Instead, the gunman fled the scene.
THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 1000 block of E. Belvedere Ave. reported to police that someone entered her home yesterday and stole a VCR and three musical instruments. The victim, Florence Hudson, told police the VCR, a saxophone, flute and coronet were valued at more than $3,000.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police said someone forced their way into a garage in the 700 block of Gladstone Road between Monday and yesterday and stole a bike and a hedge clipper. Police said the property was valued at nearly $300 and that entry was gained by breaking a lock.
THEFT: Northern District -- Karen Shaw, of the 1000 block of E. Northern Parkway, reported that while her car was parked on the lot outside Sinai Hospital in the 2400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. Someone stole all four of the car's wheel covers. Police said they are valued at more than $400.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that property valued at nearly $200 was stolen from a garage in the first block of Elmhurst Road. Police said a bike was stolen and entry was gained through an unlocked door.
THEFT: Northern District -- Steven Bartenfelder, of the 1600 block of Myamby Road in Baltimore County, reported that while his 1988 Pontiac was parked in the 100 block of E. Cold Spring Lane someone forced his way into the vehicle and stole a coat and jacket. Bartenfelder told police the property was valued at more than $300 and that entry into the car was by someone breaking a window.
LARCENY: Northern District -- Employees of Uptown Photo in the 6300 block of York Road reported that someone entered the store yesterday during business hours and removed a Nikon 35mm camera from a display case. Police said the camera was valued at more than $350.
ASSAULT: Northern District -- Police said a 14-year-old resident of the 5600 block of Lothian Road reported he was in the 5500 block of Midwood Ave. yesterday evening when he was attacked from behind by another youth who struck him over the head with a length of pipe. Police said the armed youth escaped and that the victim received a minor head injury that did not require medical treatment.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that David Barnes, of the 2500 block of Keyworth Ave., was robbed yesterday afternoon by a man armed with an unknown caliber handgun who stopped him as he walked in the first block of S. Smallwood St. Police said the gunman escaped with less than $50.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said an unknown man armed with a handgun stopped James Vines, of the 700 block of Poplar Grove St., as he walked near his home around 7 p.m. yesterday and demanded his money. Police said the gunman robbed Vines of less than $50 and escaped on foot.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Maxine Harrison, of the 200 block of S. Edgewood St., reported she was walking near her home yesterday evening when she was attacked by a man who struck her in the face with his hand and robbed her of the purse she was carrying. Police said the purse contained cash and property, all valued at $30.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Linda Gilliam, of the 1000 block of Poplar Grove St., reported she was in the 1400 block of Bloomingdale Road Tuesday night when she was attacked from the rear by a man who knocked her to the pavement and stole her purse she. Police said the man escaped with $20.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said three men attacked Tyrone Fields, of the 500 block of Poplar Grove St., as he rode his bike in the 700 block of Longwood St. and robbed him of the bike, a radio and his jacket. Police said one of the men was armed with a handgun and that property taken from Fields was valued at more than $600.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 4200 block of Euclid Ave. reported that someone broke into his apartment by forcing a rear door and stole a TV and a telephone answering machine. Police said the property was valued at nearly $600.

BANK ROBBERY: Cockeysville -- Police reported a man armed with a handgun robbed the Signet Bank in the 9900 block of York Road Tuesday morning of an undisclosed sum. Police said a male wearing a black parka, gray scarf and glasses entered the bank shortly before noon and told a teller to put all the money in her cash drawer into a black duffel bag he placed on the counter. Police said the teller complied, putting money into a Signet bag before placing it in the duffel bag. Following the robbery, the man walked out the front door and was last seen running toward the Treehouse Lounge, near the bank.
THEFT: Freeland -- Bernard Selman, of the 2200 block of Bull Sawmill Road, told police that someone entered onto his property and cut down a 15-foot high Colorado blue spruce. Selman told police the tree was valued at $700 and that it was cut down Sunday night or Monday morning.
ROBBERY: Towson District -- Police said a man armed with an unknown caliber handgun robbed the Little Tavern restaurant in the 1500 block of E. Joppa Road of an undisclosed sum early today. Police said a man wearing a burgundy sweat shirt, dark pants and a brown jacket entered the restaurant shortly before 3 a.m. and announced a holdup while pointing the gun at the manager. After going behind the counter by raising a hinged section at the end, the gunman forced the employee to give him the contents of the cash register. Before the gunman ran out the front door, police said, he tied up the employee and left him lying on the floor. Moments later, the employee freed himself and called the police.
ROBBERY/ARREST: Essex District -- Police yesterday afternoon arrested a man and charged him with the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven store in the first block of Wilshire Road. Police said after the man entered the store at 4 p.m. and poured himself a cup of coffee, he walked over to the counter and ordered a female clerk to give him money from the cash register while motioning as though he was armed. Besides being given money from the cash register, the man also was given proceeds from the state Lottery cash register. After taking the money, the man ran out the front door. When police entered Bill's Terrace Inn, located near the store, in search of the robber they were told by an employee that a man who entered moments earlier changed his clothes in the men's room and was seated near the bar. The man was removed from the tavern and identified by the store employee as the holdup man. Charged with armed robbery and held overnight at the police station pending a bail hearing today in District Court is Leonard F. Kaschenbach, 36, of the 8000 block of N. Boundary Road.

DRUG ARRESTS: Brooklyn Park -- Police reported a couple was arrested at their home Monday on narcotic charges after uniformed and plainclothes officers armed with a warrant entered the house. Taken to the Northern District and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute were Ronald Alan Montgomery, 37, and Darlene F. Rife, 31, both residents of a house in the 300 block of 4th St. During a search of the house, police found more than $600 worth of cocaine. Bail information on Montgomery and Rife was not available.
CAB HOLDUP: Glen Burnie -- A cab driver told police he was robbed of a small sum early Tuesday morning by two men he picked up at separate locations who told him to drop them off at the Valley Brook apartment complex. The cabbie, whose name was not available, told police he picked up the first man around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Crown service station at Ritchie Highway and Md. 648. The cabbie reported that man told him to drive to the Pasadena Crossroads Mall on Ritchie Highway and pick up a second man. After arriving at the apartment complex, one of the passengers displayed an automatic handgun and ordered the cabbie to give up his money. After turning over a small sum of money to the men, they bolted from the cab and escaped.
BURGLARY: Brooklyn Park -- A resident of the 5200 block of Disney Ave. told police that someone broke into his home over the weekend and stole nearly $1,700 worth of assorted hand and power tools. Police said entry was gained through a door.
BURGLARY: Glen Burnie -- Property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen from a dwelling in the 7800 block of New Freetown Road after someone gained entry through a door. Police said the intruder escaped with video games and several pieces of jewelry.
BURGLARY: Glen Burnie -- Police reported that someone forcibly entered a dwelling in the 7400 block of Furnace Branch Road over the weekend and stole money and several pieces of jewelry. Police said the property was valued at $500 and that entry was gained by forcing a door.
Carroll County
THEFT: Mount Airy -- State Police at Westminster continue to investigate the theft of several mountain bikes parked outside the Jamesway department store last week. Police said the bikes, 13 Huffy 18-speed mountain bikes with 26-inch frames, were on display and were secured with a common steel cable and a padlock. Police said the theft occurred during regular business hours and were valued at nearly $1,700.
Howard County
VANDALISM: Columbia -- Police reported that someone set fire to the exterior of a gymnasium door at the Oakland Mills Middle School in the 9500 block of Kilimanjaro Road over the weekend. Police said paint also was thrown against a school wall. Police said the fire caused minor damage to the door. While police investigated the vandalism, a resident of the immediate area of the school reported his home had been broken into. Police said it was not known if the two incidents were related.
BURGLARY: Columbia -- A resident of the 10500 block of Patuxent Ridge Way reported that someone forced their way into his garage and stole household items that had been left inside a car.
BURGLARY: Columbia -- Police said a VCR and a TV were stolen from a dwelling in the 7100 block of Brandywine Way after someone gained entry by prying open a window. Police said the value of the property was not available.
BURGLARY: Columbia -- Employees of the Snowden Video store in the 9300 block of Snowden River Parkway told police that someone broke into their business over the weekend and stole stereo equipment and a VCR. Police said entry was gained by someone removing a pane of glass from the front of the store.
