Would you believe a computer dating system for animals? A state-of-the-art chromosome analyzer given to Chicago's Brookfield Zoo will enable lovelorn penguins and other endangered animals to meet their match and have more offspring. The analyzer will halve the time it takes to find good mates for animals in breeding programs run by zoos and conservationists, says Robert C. Lacy, director of the zoo's genetics lab, one of only four in the world.
