Services for Hammond B. Dorsey, a retired engineer for the Federal Communications Commission, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Christ Episcopal Church, Dobbin and Oakland Mills roads in Columbia. Mr. Dorsey, who was 67, died Monday at his home on Wild Bees Lane in Columbia of a heart ailment.

He retired in 1987 after 10 years with the federal agency in Columbia, but he had earlier been a consulting engineer, served as chief engineer for Unelco Electronics and worked for Bendix Automotive Electronics and for the Motorola Co.

Though he was born in Baltimore, he was a member of a family that came to Maryland in Colonial times and were early residents of Howard County. His father was born at Oak Hall, the family farm where the Columbia Post Office is now located.

A 1942 graduate of the McDonogh School and a 1949 graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned an electrical engineering degree, Mr. Dorsey served in the Navy as an electronics specialist in the Pacific at the end of World War II.

While in the Navy, he also studied at Columbia University. He held several patents on electronic devices.
