If you were not at the Town Hall Saturday for the tree-lighting ceremony, you missed out on a great time.
Many of your friends and neighbors came out to sing carols, drink hot chocolate and await the arrival of Santa Claus. Recreation assistant Sue Bents did a wonderful job putting the event together.

The ever-popular rock and bowl is back. Sponsored by the Crofton Civic Association, the next one will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Crofton Bowling Alley and is open to anyone of middle-school age.

The Crofton Kiwanis will be out and about for thenext few weeks selling chances for their annual gourmet dinner basket and charity raffle. They will be stationed in front of the Crofton Giant and Route 424 Liquors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets are $1each or six for $5.
All money raised supports such community projects as the anti-drug campaign, programs at the Crofton convalescent center, the annual Halloween parade and the 10K race.

You still have time to make plans to do some holiday shopping without the kids.
The senior high youth of the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church will be child-sitting for holiday shoppers from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for a fee of $12 per child.
Lunch will be provided.

Eastern Shore elves come to Santa's rescue in Tilghman Island mud. Sounds like a goodChristmas story.
Come hear the tale at the Crofton Library duringa special program titled "Santa and the Skipjack" from 7 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
Eastern Shore author Janie Meneele will present her recently published book with the use of slides and songs. Autographed copies of the book will be for sale.

The Community United Methodist Church's chancel choir will be presenting a Christmas Cantata Dec. 21 and 22. "O Holy Night: The beginning of Hope" will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday and during the 11 a.m. service Sunday.
This year's cantata will feature actors and scenery. Performances are open to the public. The church is at Route 424 and Riedel Road. If you would likemore information, contact the church at 721-9129.

Anyone whohas not returned Crofton Athletic Council baseball equipment or uniforms should call the new baseball commissioner, Mike Reinecke, at 261-6819.
The council has no money to replace lost items. Unless these things are returned, the players may have to do without.

Baltimore Goodwill Industries Crofton donation center, at the Crofton Center on Route 3, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 14 to accept donations.
Clothing, shoes, toys, books, kitchenware, small electrical appliances and wooden furniture will be accepted at the site.An attendant will help donors and provide receipts for tax-deductionpurposes.
Proceeds from the sale of all donated goods support Baltimore Goodwill's vocational evaluation and training programs, which serve disabled and disadvantaged adults throughout the central Maryland region.
The Goodwill truck will be at the Crofton Center every second Saturday of the month through December.
