THEFT: Northern District -- Hedy Smith, of the 4500 block of Lanier Ave., reported that someone entered her home early yesterday morning and stole a wine decanter and a crystal apple. Smith told police the property was valued at nearly $200.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Employees of B.J.'s Pub in the 3800 block of Falls Road reported that someone broke into the business and removed an undisclosed sum from an office safe. Police said the burglary occurred yesterday between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. and that entry was gained by removing two locks from an exterior door.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 800 block of E. Cold Spring Lane reported that someone threw a brick through a window of his home, entered and stole property valued at more than $200.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 300 block of E. 33rd St. by forcing the first-floor door and stole stereo equipment valued at more than $350.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police said someone broke into a vehicle while it was parked in the 200 block of E. 25th St. over a period of several days and stole a two-way radio valued at $1,000 and owned by an out-of-town company.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Two men, one with a handgun and the other armed with a knife, accosted a couple as they sat in a car in the 5000 block of York Road shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday and robbed them of their cash and property. Police said Kelly Thompson, of the 5900 block of Western Run Road, was robbed of her purse containing money and property, all valued at $50. Her companion, James Keltar, of the 2700 block of N. Calvert St., was robbed of his wallet containing $15.

THEFT: Northern District -- Kenneth Urban, of the 200 block of Ridgemeade Road, reported that while his car was parked near his home someone broke a window of the vehicle and stole more than $900 worth of clothing.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1900 block of E. 30th St. was expected to get a warrant charging another man with breaking into his apartment and stealing cash, a TV and a radio, all valued at more than $300. Police said a 52-year-old man known to the victim is suspected of taking the property.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Officials at the Good Samaritan Hospital in the 5600 block of Loch Raven Blvd. reported that someone broke into an office and stole property valued at more than $200.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- David Nixon, of the 1600 block of E. Belvedere Ave., reported he was walking in the 5800 block of Hillen Road yesterday afternoon when three men robbed him of more than $100 worth of food stamps.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Terry Hasselback, of the 3000 block of Iona Terrace, told police someone stole a dining room set from the front porch of his home yesterday. He said the table, four chairs and a hutch were valued at $1,000.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4500 block of Hazelwood Ave. reported that someone broke into her home through the basement door and stole cash and jewelry valued at more than $800.

ARSON/ARRESTS: Northwestern District -- Police arrested a couple and were holding them pending charges that they set fire to a house in the 5200 block of Denmore Ave. yesterday evening. Police said damage to the house was slight and no injuries were reported.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 3500 block of Powhatan Ave. and stole hand and power tools, a vanity and a quantity of paint. Police said the property was valued at nearly $500.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Wayne Thomas, of the 5300 block of Cuthbert Ave., told police he was walking in the 3100 block of Spaulding Ave. yesterday when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of $200.

Baltimore County

BANK ROBBERY: Cockeysville District -- A man carrying a handgun and a Molotov cocktail robbed the Maryland National Bank in the 11300 block of York Road yesterday of an undisclosed sum. Police said a man entered the bank shortly before 10:30 a.m. and told a female employee that he had just placed a Molotov cocktail on the floor next to her desk. Police said the man displayed a handgun and ordered the employee behind the tellers' counter, where she was ordered to remove money from a cash drawer. The man ran out the front door with the money and was seen getting into the passenger side of a blue Toyota, whose driver sped off. Following the robbery, police examined the bottle and found that it contained a flammable liquid.

THEFT: Cockeysville District -- Employees of Watson's Garden Center in the 1600 block of York Road told police that when they arrived at the store around 8 a.m. yesterday they discovered that someone had stolen 70 Christmas wreaths overnight. Police said the wreaths, valued at more than $1,500, were removed from an unsecured patio display after 7:45 p.m. Sunday.

ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- Police said a man with a shotgun entered the Family and Children's Service of Central Maryland in the 7100 block of Liberty Road yesterday morning and robbed it of an undisclosed sum from its petty cash fund. Police said the gunman, who was wearing a red, white and blue jacket with USA emblazoned on it, committed the robbery while several people were attending a court-ordered class for individuals charged with spousal abuse.

ROBBERY: Wilkens District -- Employees of the Hardee's restaurant in the 5500 block of Baltimore National Pike said a man with a handgun removed an undisclosed sum from the cash register after purchasing french fries. Police said that when an employee opened the cash register to make the sale, the man displayed a gun in the waistband of his pants and removed all the bills. Following the 8:45 p.m. robbery yesterday, the man ran out the front door and fled toward Johnnycake Road.

Anne Arundel County

CROSS-BURNING : Marley -- Someone erected a 10-foot wooden cross in a field owned by a black family last week and attempted to set it ablaze. Police said the field is adjacent to a home in the 200 block of Marley Neck Road and that attempts to set the cross afire were unsuccessful. The daughter of the man who owns the land discovered the cross and called police. Police said several burned plastic bottles were found at the base of the cross, along with several sets of footprints. The family that owns the land told police they haven't had any problems with neighbors. Police said the incident is being probed by officers assigned to a squad that investigates criminal acts involving race or religion. Police said anyone having information about who attempted to burn the cross is urged to call county police at 222-8619.

ROBBERY: Glen Burnie -- Police reported that an Eastern Shore woman was robbed outside the Glen Burnie Mall. Police said the victim, whose name was not disclosed, was walking toward the entrance of a toy store when a man came up behind her, shoved her to the ground and stole her purse. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $300.

SHOOTING: Severna Park -- A 34-year-old resident of the first block of Avondale Circle was shot Friday night while checking on a noise in his home. Police said Steven D. Becker was watching TV Friday night in a first-floor family room when he heard a noise coming from an adjacent room. When he investigated, someone standing outside the house fired a blast from a shotgun through a window. Police said Becker was hit with several shotgun pellets and bits of flying glass but refused medical treatment.

DRUG ARRESTS: Glen Burnie -- Narcotic officers on patrol in the Valley Brook apartment community over the weekend arrested three men after witnessing what they believed was a drug transaction. Police said officers assigned to the Northern District detained the men and recovered more than $200 in cash and $200 worth of cocaine. Charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute were Ralph Edward Simms, 18, of the 7800 block of South Hampton Drive, Glen Burnie; Payton V. Poynter, 30, of the 6000 block of Heritage Hill Drive, Glen Burnie; and Paul Anthony Jones, 22, of the 11200 block of Westport Drive in Bowie.

Carroll County

ARRESTS: Westminster -- State Police reported that two men charged with breaking into a restaurant and stealing money from a cash register and a safe remain in the county detention center in lieu of $5,000 bail each. Police said Charles Dale Kinsey, 39, of Glenville Drive in Glen Burnie, and Brian C. White 22, of the 8000 block of High Point Road in the Clearwater Beach area of Anne Arundel County, were arrested and charged with breaking into Salerno's restaurant on Liberty Road after an employee who responded to a burglar alarm told police he had noticed two men in a car parked nearby shortly before the break-in. Police said a description of the car was broadcast and a Chevrolet Camaro occupied by two men was stopped a short time later on Md. 26 near Ridge Road by TFC Bradley Brown. In the car, police found $900 believed to have been taken in the break-in. In the pockets of one of the occupants, police said, they found lock-picking tools.

Harford County

THEFT: Bel Air -- An employee of Automotive Associates in the 200 block of Baltimore Pike reported that someone broke into a truck parked on the premises and stole a 2,000 pound-capacity winch valued at $300.

THEFT: Bel Air -- A resident of the 100 block of Briarcliff Lane reported that someone broke into his car while it was parked near his home and stole a radar detector, speakers and a CB radio, all valued at more than $400.

THEFT: Bel Air -- Tools valued at more than $1,400 were reported stolen from a construction storage trailer at a building site in the 1700 block of Lynx Drive. Police said the thief broke a lock off a door.

BURGLARY: Bel Air -- Police said someone broke into a house in the 600 block of Fox Bow Drive and stole $2,000 worth of baseball cards.

Howard County

SHOOTING/ARRESTS: Columbia -- Police arrested two brothers from New York and charged them with the shooting last Tuesday night of Glenn Hatcher, 25, of the 5400 block of Cedar Lane. Police said Hatcher originally reported he was in his apartment when he heard two men arguing in the hallway. He told police that as he looked through the peep hole of his door, one of the men saw him and fired several shots into the door, striking him in the leg. However, an investigation revealed that jTC Hatcher was arguing with the men about a debt when he was shot. After learning the names of the two men, police went to the Copper Stallion motel in Jessup and arrested Laurice L. Corbett, and Gregory Lamont Corbett, 18. In addition to being charged with shooting Hatcher, Laurice Corbett is charged with a firearms violation, assault and reckless endangerment. He is -- being held in the county detention center without bail. His brother was charged with a single count of shooting Hatcher and being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
