Bob and fiancee Tina, an assistant at Podiatry Associates, have been dating for a couple of years, and according to Bob, "It was time." They'll be married here Dec. 15.

ALL OF BALTIMORE is invited to the grand opening of the Hollywood Diner, formerly called the Kids' Diner, Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at 400 E. Saratoga St.
It was used as the setting for Barry Levinson's hit movie "Diner," so many of the original Diner Guys -- including Boogie Weinglass -- are expected to attend, as well as Mayor Kurt Schmoke, former Colt Lenny Moore and some Orioles players and coaches.
The Hollywood Diner will continue to train young people in the food service industry. Drop by for French fries and gravy.

THE O'S ZONE: If you don't know what to get the sports fan on your holiday shopping list, listen up. The Orioles' 14th annual Holiday Benefit Sale is in full force at the Hit and Run Club at Memorial Stadium, and this year's sale includes such items as the chairs and nameplates from the Orioles clubhouse, bats, balls and the helmets the O's used in the Turn Back the Clock Day game.

LOCAL GEMS: The Friends of School 33 are staging a Winter Holiday Benefit Exhibition and Sale featuring one-of-a-kind jewelry and other holiday items on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Original works by area artists will be featured with prices starting at $8. Speaking of jewelry, New York artist-goldsmith Claire Bersani will return to the Walters Art Gallery today at 3 p.m. to give a lecture and demonstration of jewelry making. CHARM CITY CHARMER: If we had such a thing as a salute, start with Rosemary Baldwin, a nurse at Harbor Hospital Center. Cecelia Payton, who met Baldwin while her husband was a patient there in the cancer ward, writes that Baldwin helped her through a trying time "by her smile, words of encouragement and always hope."
She adds, "I know you write about 'important' people and this is one of the most important people we have."
MOVERS AND SHAKERS: AMFAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research) has given local designer Wenda Royster its stamp of approval. Wenda's Wenda Wear hand-painted tuxedo shirts are available at Rococo in Pikesville, with part of the proceeds from the sale donated to AMFAR.
