BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 2000 block of W. Lanvale St. and stole a bedroom dresser valued at $500.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Property valued at nearly $500 was stolen from a house in the 200 block of N. Carey St. after someone got in through a rear door. Police said the burglar escaped with a VCR and a TV.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1500 block of W. Baltimore St. reported that someone broke into her home Tuesday and stole a diamond ring valued at $100.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police today were seeking the person who broke into a dwelling in the 2500 block of Riggs Ave. through a basement door and stole a VCR, cash and several pieces of jewelry, all valued at more than $1,000.
SHOOTINGS: Western District -- Police said three men standing on the corner of Division and Baker streets late Tuesday night were shot by at least one occupant of a passing car. James Bollin, of the 700 block of E. Lanvale St., was shot in the right leg and Jerry Ham, of the 6700 block of Townbrook Circle in the Randallstown section of Baltimore County, was hit in the left leg. The third victim, Michael Shawn, of the 1800 block of Rambling Road, was shot in the right arm. Police said all three were treated at a hospital and released. No reason was given for the shootings and no arrests had been made.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Ethere Thompson, of the 700 block of Mulberry St., reported she was walking in the 1100 block of Edmondson Ave. early yesterday morning when a man struck her with his fists and stole her purse, which contained $40 and other property.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1300 block of N. Carey St. reported that someone broke into his home by forcing the rear door and stole a microwave oven, TV, several pieces of clothing and VCR tapes. Police said the value of the property was not available.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Employees of Chesapeake Building Services in the 2200 block of Maryland Ave. told police that someone broke into one of their buildings in the 400 block of N. Warwick Ave. Tuesday or yesterday and stole two telephones, a typewriter, tools, a drill and a paper shredder.
RAPE: Western District -- A woman told police she was accosted in the 1500 block of W. Lanvale St. early yesterday by a man who forced her into the back yard of a house and raped her. The victim was treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center and released.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Jacqueline Matthews, of the 800 block of W. Lexington St., told police she was in the 1200 block of W. Baltimore St. yesterday afternoon when she was attacked by a man who robbed her of nearly $400.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police said property valued at nearly $200 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1000 block of N. Calhoun St. after someone got in through a rear door. Police said the burglar escaped with a TV and a refrigerator.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3500 block of Dudley Ave. reported that someone broke into his outdoor storage shed through a window and stole a bike valued at more than $100.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Gary Rider, an out-of-town resident, told police someone stole his Kawasaki jet-ski while the vehicle and its trailer were parked outside a friend's house in the 3100 block of Royston Ave. Rider said someone apparently hooked the trailer hitch to a vehicle and drove away between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. yesterday. Ride reported the jet-ski was protected by a canvas cover and the total value of the jet-ski, cover and trailer was more than $7,700.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Denise Gray, of the 4600 block of Bowleys Lane, reported she was walking near her home yesterday evening when a man armed with a handgun robbed her of more than $400.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Earl Koger, a resident of Miami, Fla., told police he was in the 600 block of Mount Holly St. around 6 p.m. Tuesday when a man placed a hard object in his back and demanded his money. Police said the man escaped with Koger's wallet and an undisclosed sum.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that Minnie Corey, of the first block of S. Monastery Ave., was about to enter a house in the 100 block of Edgewood St. yesterday when a man came up behind her and stole her purse, which contained cash and property of unknown value.
Baltimore County
ESCAPE: Cub Hill -- State and county police today continued their search for two boys who escaped from the Charles H. Hickey School Tuesday evening. Police said the youths, whose names were not released, escaped from the juvenile detention facility shortly before 7 p.m. Since September, when an out-of-state firm took over the operation of the school from the state's division of juvenile services, 23 youths have escaped.
CHASE/ARRESTS: White Marsh District -- County police early today pursued a stolen Jeep into the city, where city police stopped it on Paca Street and arrested the occupants. Police said the Jeep was spotted on Merritt Boulevard and Rabon Avenue around 3:30 a.m. by a district officer, who pursued it west across the Baltimore Beltway to the Jones Falls Expressway and into the city. While following the vehicle on Fayette Street, the county officer was ordered to break off the chase for fear of having an accident or hitting a pedestrian. However, city police stopped the car a few minutes later on Paca Street and arrested the occupants. Police said the Jeep was stolen earlier in the city and that its occupants face auto theft charges. County police were expected to charge the driver with multiple traffic violations.
Anne Arundel County
ASSAULT: Glen Burnie -- A newspaper deliveryman told police that when he arrived at Hildebrand's service station in the 6800 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. early Monday he was attacked by a man with an ax. The victim, whose name was not available, told police the man swung at him several times for no apparent reason and was threatening to kill him. Police said the victim reported the incident by phone but the armed man fled before officers arrived. Police said the deliveryman was not injured.
ARSON: Odenton -- Police said someone set fire to a privacy fence at Redmore and Redbridge drives and were looking for a man seen loitering in the area shortly before the fire was reported. Officers responding to a report that the fence was burning extinguished it before it could spread to any dwellings.
BURGLARY: Annapolis -- A resident of the 1400 block of Tenbury Commons reported that someone broke into his home through a window and stole a telephone answering machine valued at nearly $80.
BURGLARY: Glen Burnie -- Police said video games and cash were stolen from a dwelling in the 700 block of Walnut Ave. Police said the property was valued at nearly $600.
BURGLARY: Harmans -- A generator, valued at nearly $1,000, was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 1300 block of Dorsey Road after someone got in through a door.
BURGLARY: Pasadena -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the XTC 900 block of Long View Ave. by forcing a door and stole money and property with a total value of nearly $800.
Carroll County
THEFT: Eldersburg -- Steven Hodge, of Autumn Valley Lane, told police that while his 1987 Nissan was parked at the county's water treatment plant yesterday someone broke into the vehicle and stole $300 worth of cassette tapes. Police said a large case used to carry the tapes also was stolen.
THEFT: Eldersburg -- Employees of Little Caesar's House of Pizza in the 1400 block of Liberty Road reported that someone opened the office safe sometime between Nov. 3 and Dec. 2 and stole $300.
Howard County
DRUG ARREST: Columbia -- Police said a lengthy investigation into the transporting of illegal drugs into the county resulted in the arrest Monday of a cab driver, whose vehicle was allegedly used to distribute marijuana. Narcotic officers arrested Alexander White, 42, of the 13700 block of Tridelphia Mill Road in Clarksville, Monday at the park-and-ride lot near the intersection of Md. 32 and Snowden River Parkway. In the car, police found a briefcase that contained about 2 ounces of marijuana. Following White's arrest, police went to his home and seized several marijuana plants and a pound of marijuana in the basement. White's cab also was seized. Police said White was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
SHOOTING: Columbia -- Police said a man who was shot in the leg by someone who fired several bullets through the victim's apartment door remains in stable condition at the Howard County General Hospital. Police said Glenn Hatcher, 25, of the 5400 block of Cedar Lane, was awakened around 2 a.m. Tuesday by the sounds of two men arguing in the hallway outside his apartment. Police said that when Hatcher looked through his door's peep-hole, one of the men became angry about being watched and fired six shots from a .22-caliber handgun into the door. One of the shots hit Hatcher in the leg. As the gunman and the other fled, Hatcher summoned an ambulance, which took him to the hospital. No arrest had been made, police said.
BURGLARY: Columbia -- A resident of the 9100 block of Emersons Reach reported that someone got into his home by breaking a basement window and stole baseball cards, a watch, radio, cash and a computer game of undetermined value.
BURGLARY: Columbia -- Police reported that savings bonds and cash were stolen from a dwelling in the 9100 block of Bronze Bell Circle after someone got in through a rear basement window.
BURGLARY: Columbia -- A house under construction in the 9300 block of Somersby Court was broken into by someone who stole a heat pump and a dishwasher. Police said the value of the appliances was not known.
