Hearing due for shooting suspect

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

A Pimlico man charged with the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another in a downtown high-rise apartment building Tuesday night was due to appear today at a bail hearing in District Court.

Shortly before 10 p.m. yesterday, Elijah Ragin, 26, of the 5000 block of Denmore Ave., was arrested at his home without incident.

The gun used in the killing of Lawrence Fleet, 28, of the 2600 block of Loyola Northway, and the wounding of Damian Williams, 29, of the 500 block of Random Road, has not been found, police said.

Ragin is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and two counts of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. Police said they had no motive for the shootings.

Fleet and Williams were talking in a third-floor hallway of the building at 1101 Orleans St. shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday when a man armed with a handgun approached and began shooting, police said.
