Coppin State's Yarbray returns, is suspended for three games

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Coppin State point guard Larry Yarbray, who was suspended after missing three practices last week, returned to practice yesterday but will miss the Eagles' next two games.

Coach Fang Mitchell said the senior guard cited "personal problems" for leaving the team after Coppin won its season opener against Winthrop on Nov. 26. Yarbray played only 19 minutes in that game. He was pulled out after the first minute of the second half.

Yarbray spoke to Mitchell yesterday afternoon, then was given a three-game suspension that included the loss to Maine on Tuesday.

"He was not sure of what he wanted," Mitchell said. "He just didn't handle things the way he should have. He's 21 and he's a senior, but there's some immaturity involved."

After speaking to Mitchell, Yarbray practiced with the team yesterday. He will miss tonight's game against American and Saturday's game at Oklahoma, and will be allowed to return to the team for Wednesday's game against Maryland Baltimore County.
