SCHOOL CLOSING POLICY

On days of inclement weather, parents and students are asked to listen to local radio or television stations for information about changes in school schedules.

If it is necessary to close an individual county public school or all schools after the school day has begun, anannouncement will be made to the schools, and to radio and television stations.

If schools are closed, they will reopen the following day on the regular schedule unless announced otherwise.

On days when schools are closed for all or part of the day, all community and after-schoolprograms are canceled.

INTERPRETERS FOR THE DEAF

Interpreters forthe deaf will be provided, upon request, for all public meetings of the Board of Education.

Persons interested in this service should notify the Office of the Superintendent of the Department of Education of Howard County 48 hours prior to the scheduled public meeting.

SCHOOL CLOSING NOTICES

Howard Community College's weather-emergency closings will be aired on Baltimore and Washington television stations affiliated with the threemajor networks and on 11 area radio stations between 6 and 9 a.m.

HCC weather announcements

can be heard on the following stations:WBAL-TV; WJZ-TV; and WMAR-TV; WBAL-AM 1090; WCAO-AM 600; WMIX-FM 106.5; WIYY-FM 97.9; WLIF-FM 101.9; and WYST-FM 92.3.

When Howard County public schools are closed because of weather emergencies, the HCCclasses conducted at those schools will be canceled.

If HCC classes are canceled any time after the college opens, announcements will be made in the same manner. A recorded message will also be played onthe college's main telephone number, 992-4800.
