STABBING: Eastern District -- A 16-year-old was attacked late Saturday night in the 400 block of E. 23rd St. and stabbed multiple times in the shoulder, side and head. Police said the victim, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, was walking alone around 10:20 p.m. when he was attacked by two men, one of whom stabbed him repeatedly with a knife. The youth was taken by ambulance to the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore, where he was listed in critical condition today. No arrests had been made in the case, police said.
ROBBERY: Eastern District -- Ronald Gamble, of the 1900 block of N. Dallas St., reported he was in the 1800 block of N. Bond St. yesterday evening when he was accosted by a man who kept one hand in his jacket pocket as though armed. Gamble told police the man demanded his money while threatening to shoot him. Police said Gamble gave up $10 cash and a pack of cigarettes to the man, who escaped on foot.
SHOOTING: Eastern District -- Police said Kurt Malone, of the 900 block of N. Rose St., was listed in serious condition today at Johns Hopkins Hospital after being shot three times by a man who attacked him as he walked in the 900 block of N. Duncan St. shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday.
SHOOTING: Eastern District -- Police today were seeking a man who shot Jackie Hall, of the 400 block of E. 23rd St., yesterday afternoon near his home. Police said Hall was taken to a hospital for treatment and held for observation.
SHOOTING/ARREST: Central District -- Police said the owner of a popular bar was released yesterday after posting $75,000 bond on charges of assault with intent to murder. Police said George R. Ridrigs, the 36-year-old owner of the Sportsman's Bar in the 400 block of Park Ave., was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. yesterday after police hostage negotiators persuaded him to leave his apartment. Police said Roger Jones, 28, of the 1700 block of W. North Ave., was leaving the bar shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday when he was shot in the right shoulder. Moments earlier, said police, Jones had been warned by Ridrigs to stop dancing. Police said as Jones was leaving the bar with friends, three shots rang out. One hit Jones, a second hit an occupied car stopped at a red light at Madison and Park avenues, and the third went wild. Jones was taken to the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore, where he was treated and released yesterday. When police arrived on the scene, they learned that Ridrigs had gone to his apartment above the bar and refused to come out. At 2:40 a.m., Ridrigs surrendered to police without further incident.
SHOOTING: Western District -- Derrick Brown, of the 3100 block of Artaban Place in West Baltimore, was in the 2300 block of Reisterstown Road late Saturday night when he was accosted by a man with a handgun who threatened to shoot him. Police said when Brown turned and began running away, the gunman fired a shot that struck Brown in the back. Police said the gunman fled and Brown was taken to a hospital for treatment.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Charles Wheelen, of the 2200 block of W. North Ave., reported he was near his home early yesterday morning when a man struck him in the face with a beer bottle. Wheelen, police said, was taken to the Liberty Medical Center for treatment of several cuts and was released. His assailant, a man Wheelen knows, was being sought.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Western District -- Police responding to a burglary report yesterday afternoon in the 2300 block of Evergreen Ave. arrested a man at the scene. Police said Eric Givens, of the 1800 block of Ashburton St., was charged with burglary. They said Givens, who also was charged with other unrelated crimes, was being held in the station lockup in lieu of $27,000 bail, pending a bail review hearing today before a District Court judge.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Daisy Reeder, of the 2500 block of Calverton Heights Ave., reported that she was in the 1700 block of Presstman St. around 10 p.m. Saturday when she was stopped by a man with a handgun who robbed her of more than $100.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 2300 block of Harlem Ave. reported that someone broke into her home over the weekend and stole property valued at more than $1,100.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Andrea Miles, of the 1400 block of Montpelier St., reported she was walking in the 2600 block of Polk St. and counting some money late yesterday evening when a man walked up to her and took the money. Police said the man escaped with less than $10.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3000 block of Gibbons Ave. reported that someone broke into her apartment over the weekend and stole stereo equipment from her living room. Police said the value of the property was not immediately known and that entry was gained by forcing the front door.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 1500 block of Winston Ave. early yesterday morning and stole a 13-inch black-and-white TV. Police said entry was gained by opening a dining room window and that the property was valued at more than $200.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said a TV valued at $200 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1100 block of Quantril Way after someone got in yesterday morning by forcing a rear door.
Baltimore County
ROBBERY: Towson District -- A man with a handgun robbed the Quality Inn in the 1000 block of York Road near the Baltimore Beltway yesterday evening. Police said a black male 28 to 35 years old, dressed in a black leather jacket, black beret, black shirt and black tennis shoes, entered the motel shortly after 7 p.m. and gave the desk clerk a note demanding he put all the money from the cash register into a bag. Police said while the clerk was opening the cash register, the man pulled out a handgun and pressed it into the side of a female guest, threatening to shoot her if the clerk didn't hurry. After taking an undisclosed sum, the gunman ran out the front door. Police said no injuries were reported.
SCHOOL BURGLARY: Parkville District -- Someone broke into Kingsville Elementary School in the 7300 block of Sunshine Ave. over the Thanksgiving holiday and ransacked the principal's office. Police said nothing appeared to be missing but an inventory was expected to be taken to determine if any money, school equipment or personal items were taken. Police said the school was entered between Nov. 27 and yesterday by someone who opened a rear window.
BURGLARY: Cockeysville District -- Employees of J&J; auto repair in the 10800 block of York Road reported that someone broke into the business over the weekend and stole a computer and tools. Police said the computer was valued at $4,000, but the value of the auto repair tools was not immediately known. Police said the thief pried open the front door.
BURGLARY: Cockeysville District -- A resident of the 10500 block of Gateridge Road reported that someone broke into his home between Nov. 28 and yesterday and stole jewelry of undetermined value from a second-floor bedroom. Police said entry was gained by forcing a side kitchen door, which sustained $50 in damage.
BURGLARY: Garrison District -- Police reported that someone broke into the Spirit Shop in the 7000 block of Liberty Road Saturday and stole several bottles of liquor of unknown value and broke several bottles.
BURGLARY: Garrison District -- A resident of the 3400 block of Midfield Road reported that his home was broken into over the weekend by someone who entered by breaking the sliding glass door. Police said the bedroom was ransacked but it was not immediately known what, if any, property was taken.
BURGLARY: Garrison District -- Police reported that someone broke into a room at the Econo Lodge in the 400 block of Reisterstown Road in Pikesville and stole the wallet of an out-of-town guest. Police said the wallet contained $20.
Anne Arundel County
SCAM: Crofton -- County police today were seeking several women wearing out-of-date Catholic nun habits who have been requesting donations from merchants and shoppers in several businesses in exchange for religious and holiday calendars. Police said Roberta Moore, the owner of Miracles beauty salon in Crofton, gave $5 but later reported being suspicious because of the clothing. Moore told police the habits the women were wearing haven't been worn for at least 20 years. Police said a receipt given to Moore had a Florida address of a religious order and that a check revealed no such order in Florida. A spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Baltimore said officials also checked the address given on the receipt and couldn't find any such order or monastery in Florida.
ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Pasadena -- Police arrested a 16-year-old and an adult in the theft of a car from Wooton Motor Cars in the 8000 block of Ritchie Highway. Police said two people entered the business and asked a salesman if they could take a Gulf-GTI for a test drive. When the salesman began to talk with the pair, one of them pulled out a dark-colored semiautomatic handgun and forced the salesman to give up the keys to the vehicle. Police said the pair drove off in the car, but stopped moments later in front of Chi Chi's restaurant, where the adult got out and drove off in a second car. During a chase, the Gulf struck a guardrail on Benfield Road, forcing the driver to jump out and run. He was later caught in the Ben Oaks community. Police said the 16-year-old, Jerome Marvin Marriott, of Largo, was charged as an adult with armed robbery. Police said the adult, an 18-year-old resident of Glendale, was arrested later, but his name was not available.
