Alfred W. Wheatley, 87, died Thursday at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. A Baltimore County resident, he was the husband of the late Catherine Vogt Wheatley. Retired as president of Lloyd E. Mitchell Engineering, he was a member of Sherwood Episcopal Church, the Boumi and Scottish Rite temples and the Corinthian Lodge. He also was a volunteer for the Red Cross for 15 years. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Lessner of New Windsor; a brother, Robert of Catonsville, and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Shirley Mae Evans, 60, died Friday. She was the wife of Jack Evans. A homemaker, she was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Dr. Stephen Toms, 62, died Monday at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husband of Marjorie Toms. Formerly in private practice, he recentlywas employed as a medical officer by the Social Security Administration. Additional survivors include children, Catherine and Stephen E. Toms and Frances Boyle, all of Baltimore, Patricia Grahe and Susan Baitch, both of Abingdon, John M. Toms of Minnesota, Stephanie Toms of Pasadena, Molly Parsons of Bishopsville and Lillian Terry of New Jersey; brother, Michael Toms of Massachusetts; sisters, Marie Toms, Catherine Denial and Eve Becker, all of Erie, Pa.; three stepchildren, and six step-grandchildren. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Glade United Church of Christ, Walkersville. The family will receive friends2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Witzke Funeral Home, 1630 Edmondson Ave., Catonsville.
Howard J. Wendler, 71, died Nov. 11 at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marie Madvsek Wendler. Retired from the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., he was vice president of the Carroll County 55+ Club. A brother, Herbert Wendler of Baltimore, survives.

Joseph Glorioso, 65, died Friday as the result of an automobile accident. A Baltimore County resident, he was the husband of Vicenza Glorioso. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a self-employed hair stylist. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Frank and Vince Glorioso, both of here; brother Salvadore Glorioso of Westminster and Russell Glorioso of Virginia; sister, Sarah Bueme of Cefalu, Italy, and two granddaughters.
