Prince Gideon Israel, 43, who went by the name Carter Cornelius as leader of the 1970s sibling pop group Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, died of a heart attack Thursday at his home in Dania, Fla., his family said. The group had a hit in 1971 with "Treat Her Like a Lady" and another a year later, "Too Late to Turn Back Now." Mr. Gideon wrote and produced songs for the group comprising himself, his brother Eddie and sister Rose. He went into seclusion in 1976 with Yahweh Ben Yahweh, founder of a Miami-based religious sect whose followers adopt the name Israel.
