Set To Fly wins Laurel stakes

THE BALTIMORE SUN

LAUREL -- Set To Fly got the lead out of the gate and won the $75,000 What A Summer Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths yesterday at Laurel Race Course.

With Rick Wilson aboard, the 2-year-old filly by Rolaunch ran the seven furlongs in 1 minute, 25 2/5 seconds, and paid $10.60, $5.60 and $4.

Gala Gold Digger placed second, paying $4.20 and $3.40, with Good Looking Terri three lengths back for third, paying $3.60.

Wilson rode winners in the fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth races.

Trainer Vinnie Blengs saddled winners in the first and last races.

The Double Triple was not hit for the 19th straight racing day, moving the carry-over to $185,701.90 for tomorrow's races.

There were 18 live tickets going into the fifth race, second half of the Double Triple, but no bettors correctly selected the 11-2-8 combination. Two jockeys, Mike Luzzi and Edgar Prado, riding Prefectly Gray and Our Dutchess, came off their mounts at the start but were not hurt.
