WOMAN ROBBED NEAR GLEN BURNIE H.S.

A Severn woman was robbed and hit on the back of her head Thursday night outside Glen Burnie High School.

The woman was taken to NorthArundel Hospital, where she was listed in good condition Friday.

Police said she was using a pay phone at Route 648 and Glen Road when she was struck from behind by an unknown assailant.

The womanwas knocked unconscious for a short period of time, police said. When she came to, she said, the contents of her purse were strewn about.

Police said the thief stole about $150 from her wallet. The womancould not offer a description of the suspect.

ARMED MAN ROBS GLEN BURNIE STORE

A man with a black revolver held up a Glen Burnie liquor store Thursday night, getting away with $76.

Police said the suspect walked into Sunset Restaurant/Package Goods, in the 600 block ofGreenway Avenue, at 10:25 p.m. and approached a clerk.

The man leaned over the counter, pointed a revolver at the cashier and demandedmoney from the cash drawer.

WOMAN CHARGED IN COUNTERFEIT CASE

A Severn woman was charged with possessing counterfeit money Thursday after police said she allegedly tried to use a fake $20 bill at a 7-Eleven store.

Police said the woman was in the convenience store, in the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park, at about 7 p.m. when she tried to buy two bottles of orange juice, a comb and some bubble gum.

The clerk rang up the sale, and the woman handed her a thick piece of paper photocopied from a $20 bill, police said.

Leslie J. Mahen, 31, of the 7800 block of Hugenot Court was charged with possession of counterfeit U.S. currency.

SECURITY OFFICER ATTACKED BY YOUTHS

A member of a Brooklyn Park community security patrol was punched and kicked Thursday night by a youth the agent said was throwing stones in the street and pulling up plants in people's yards.

Albert Derwood Bowen, 48, of the 100 block of Seventh Avenue, was not injured in the 8:30 p.m. attack.

Police said Bowen saw a group of disorderly teen-agers in the 200 block of 12th Avenue. When he approached the group, the youths yelled obscenities at him.

The police report says one of the youths, about 14 or 16 years old, punched Bowenin the face and body. The boy then jumped into Bowen's van and droveoff.

The van was found a short time later at Belle Grove and Fifth Avenue.
