Halloween treats


Halloween haunting is in progress through Nov. 3 at "A Nightmare on St. John Street," Havre de Grace. The old Seneca Cannery Warehouse there is the site at 7 p.m. each day, including 39 separate horror scenes. Proceeds will benefit the Battery Island Preservation Society Inc. The Gray Charles Haunted House at the North Point Government Center, Merritt Boulevard and Wise Avenue, is open today through Sunday and Oct. 29-31. Hours are Sunday to Thursday 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Call 887-7180 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

"Haunted Hayrides" offers a complimentary hayride through the "field of screams," stopping at the "Witches Brew" for deadly doughnuts and spider cider, Thursday to Sunday and Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, in three locations: Nixon's Farm at Routes 70 and 32, Howard County; Route 450 at Highbridge Road between Routes 193 and 197 in Prince George's County; and in Harford County, three minutes from Exit 85 off Route 95N. The Association for Retarded Citizens of Harford County and House of Ruth will also be recipients of complimentary hayrides for patients and their families on designated nights. Call (301) 596-2469.

The Towson Jaycees will open their 19th annual Haunted House tomorrow, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. through Nov. 1, at Towson Marketplace mall, Goucher Boulevard and Putty Hill Avenue. Proceeds will help finance community service projects. Call 821-6469.

The Highland Area Jaycees will sponsor a Halloween dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, with cash prizes for the best costumes, at the Ellicott City Lions Club, 5005 Waterloo Road. Call (301) 854-6959 or (301) 854-2007.

Hamilton Unit No. 20 past presidents of the American Legion Auxiliary, will hold their annual Halloween dance for adults only from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at the post home, 5503 Richard Ave. Music will be by Al Baitch. Call 391-1973.

"Harriet's Happiest Halloween" will be presented by the Harford Dance Theater at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, and 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Chesapeake Theater, Harford Community College.
