Theatre Hopkins to present Mark Giesser's 'Pledge of 0) Allegiance'

Mark Giesser's "Pledge of Allegiance," a new play set in the aftermath of the American Revolution, will have three performances at Theatre Hopkins, on the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.; tickets are $10.

Directed by Kenneth F. Hoke-Witherspoon, the production is sponsored by the Morristown National Park and the Washington Association of New Jersey and will subsequently be presented at the Morristown National Park in New Jersey in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of the National Park Service. @ Violinist Zoltan Szabo and pianist Reynaldo Reyes, Towson State University faculty members, will perform their 10th annual recital together Saturday at 8:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Concert Hall. The program will include works by Brahms, Bartok and Schubert, among others.

Mr. Szabo, who was educated in Hungary as well as the United States, has performed and made recordings throughout the world. Mr. Reyes was trained in both the Philippines and France and performed in the United States, Asia, Europe and South America.

The Rosa Ponselle Foundation is sponsoring what promises to be a wonderful concert today at 7:30 p.m. in Kraushaar Auditorium at Goucher College. Cheryl Parrish and John Weber, two recent winners of the foundation's celebrated international vocal competition, will appear in concert with bassist Gary Karr and his accompanist, Harmon Lewis. The varied program includes works by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Donizetti and Victor Herbert.

It will be a rare opportunity for Baltimore audiences to hear Karr, who is widely considered the greatest bass player in the instrument's history. He is the musician who took it out of the baroque doghouse and transformed this bullfrog of the orchestra into a Cinderella. The concert is free but tickets must be
