Man shot by intruders police say sought drugs

A 45-year-old northwest Baltimore man was shot and wounded today by three shotgun-wielding intruders who kicked in the front door of his home in search of illegal narcotics, police said.

The gunmen fired at least eight shotgun blasts at the man, Troy Huston, but police said he received only minor wounds to his face and a more serious wound to his hand. Huston was treated at Union Memorial Hospital's hand clinic.

Warrants were being sought for the three attackers.

According to Sgt. Mark Tomlin of the Northwestern District, the gunmen were "looking to rip off drugs" in the house in the 3700 block of Towanda Ave.

A search of the house turned up what police contend was the object of the attempted robbery. In the basement, officers found an ounce of cocaine, more than 200 plastic bags, drug-cutting chemicals and a police scanner radio.
