NBA players Derrick Coleman of the New Jersey Nets and Billy Owens of the Sacramento Kings refused to cooperate with Syracuse University's investigation into alleged wrongdoing in its basketball program, a published report said.

Their refusal has hampered the university's lawyers, who have been looking into possible NCAA violations by the basketball program for eight months, sources told the Syracuse Post-Standard.

The newspaper, which exposed the allegations in a series of stories last December, also quoted sources who said former player Erich Santifer refused to cooperate with investigators.

The investigators also have been unable to reach former Orangeman Rodney Walker (Cardinal Gibbons), who told the Post-Standard that Syracuse coaches arranged to have one of his grades changed to make him eligible to play in a game, the sources said.

Morris Beecroft of Newport News, Va., and Clarence Moore of Winnsboro, S.C., each shot 150 yesterday to be the co-medalists in the second qualifying day of the Seniors Championship of United States Golf Association at Crystal Downs Country Club in Frankfort, Mich.

Beecroft shot 76-75--150 and Moore shot 73-77150. Jim O'Malley of Rockville shot 80-82162 to make the cut, which fell at 163. The first round of match-play begins today. Shelly Blitz of Bethesda (86-84170) and Ralph Bogart of Chevy Chase (83-DQ) missed the cut.

Babe who?
