McTigue scores 4 touchdowns; Frostburg beats Catholic, 29-7
FROSTBURG -- Rory McTigue broke four school records, rushing for 155 yards and four touchdowns yesterday to lead Frostburg State to a 29-7 victory over Catholic. Both teams are 1-1.
McTigue, a senior, set school records for career touchdowns (37) and career rushing touchdowns (35), breaking Rich Prather's marks of 34 and 32, respectively. McTigue's 93-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the longest run from scrimmage and longest scoring run in school history.
McTigue also scored twice from 1 yard out and once from 2 yards out. In addition, he punted five times for 155 yards.
Debraire Meekins scored on a 7-yard run for Catholic in the second quarter. Catholic quarterback Kyle Farnham completed 13 of 28 attempts for 124 yards.
C.W. Post 10, Salisbury 5
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. -- Guy Fatato recovered a fumble in the end zone and Mike O'Brien kicked a 25-yard field goal to lead C.W. Post (1-0) over Salisbury State (0-1).
Offensively, Salisbury State managed just Rob Grande's 27-yard field goal.
Montgomery-Rockville 31, Stevens Tech 7
ROCKVILLE -- Jesse Humphrey caught seven passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, as Montgomery-Rockville (1-1) defeated Stevens Tech (1-1).
Rockville trailed, 7-6, at halftime, but the Knights' defense took over in the second half, shutting out the Steelers and causing two fourth-quarter turnovers that led to touchdowns.
