Top newcomers: Senior, halfback/forward Becky Duex; juniors, halfback Caroline Hare, halfback Laura Shoffner, fullback Jessica Farinholt
Coach's comments: "Our biggest problem last year was inconsistency. There is a lot of learning the team has to go through."
The Carroll County Sun's outlook: Defense should not be a problem with the Owls this season. Last season they allowed a school-record low 17 goals during the season. Bright has a handful of players who can play a lot of different positions. Back is senior goalkeeper Hedges to anchor that stingy defense. The problem with the Owls is on offense. Although they allowed such a low number of goals last season, they managed only five wins. Add the fact that their two top scorers from last year have graduated worsens the problem. Bright will be searching for some offensive firepower. The question is can he find it. It will almost have to comefrom a newcomer. Look for the defense to keep the Owls in a lot of games, but how long can they hold down the fort? A stingy defense willwin some games -- the Owls have one. Look for the Owls to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack in the county and CMC race.
