Coach: Ed Powelson, 31st year

Assistant coaches: Charlie Hook

Last year's record: 6-4-2 overall, 2-3-1 and tied for third in the Central Maryland Conference, 2-3-1 and tied for second in the county

Top returnees: Senior, goalkeeper Scott Reaver, forward Gary Burrows, forward Nate Robinson, forward Cory Sholter, forward Bobby Windsor, forward/halfback Andy Rill

Top newcomers: Juniors, halfback Kevin Dull, halfback Mike Roberts, halfback Steve Hanson

Coach's comments: "I'm concerned about the inexperience of our defense and midfield. We may have to switch some people around to keep balance. We should be competitive with any one we play. It's just a matter of goingout and playing hard and winning."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: Powelson always seems to find a way to win so why should things change now? Actually, there are a number of reasons. The Panthers are very thin at midfield and even thinner on defense. They do have a lotof experience up front who are going to have to score a lot of goalsto win games. Powelson may have to juggle the lineup a bit to put some experience back at midfield and defense. Reaver will have to come up big in goal and also take charge of an inexperienced group of defenders. Could be one of Powelson's biggest challenges in recent years.Look for the Panthers to win a few they shouldn't and lose a few they shouldn't. When all is said and done, they should finish somewhere in the middle of the pack at around the .500 mark.
