'Star Trek' marathon

The Senator theater is offering fans of the "Star Trek" movies a chance to "sit long and prosper" with a marathon screening Saturday of all five movies in the series.

The films will be shown in order, beginning at noon but including a 6:30 to 8 p.m. dinner break. The first three, "Star Trek -- The Motion Picture" (1979), "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" (1982) and "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" (1984), will be shown from noon to 6:30. The final films, "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986) and "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (1989), will be shown from 8 to midnight.

Tickets, which are no longer available by telephone, cost $20. Seats go on sale at the Senator box office at 4 p.m. today (no checks or charges). A marathon "Star Trek" pin will be given to those who attend, and fans will also glimpse footage from "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," scheduled for release Dec. 13.

The "Star Trek" promotion celebrates the 25th anniversary of the creation of the television series that went where no one had gone before.
