A 16-year-old boy was arrested early today when a sports car stolen at a Brooklyn Park apartment complex crashed into a Federal Hill clinic after a 20-mile, high-speed chase into the city from Anne Arundel County.
Seconds before hitting the clinic building, the car rammed an Anne Arundel County police cruiser in pursuit. An officer inside was shaken but not injured.
The teen-ager was treated at Harbor Hospital Center for minor injuries.
Officer Richard Morris said he spotted the stolen car, a 1986 Camaro Z-28, on Belle Grove Road near 10th Avenue around 1 a.m. and gave chase.
The driver went south on Ritchie Highway to Glen Burnie, drove to the rear of a shopping center and turned off his lights. The car then sped north into Baltimore on Hanover Street to Montgomery Street. Turning left in the 700 block of Light St., the Camaro rammed the passenger side of the police car. Both vehicles struck the Federal Hill Pediatric Center near a fire station. After a brief scuffle, the youth was arrested.
Anne Arundel County Sgt. Ben Kirwan said the youth would be charged as a juvenile with multiple traffic charges, auto theft, and assaulting Morris with a motor vehicle.
