Coach: Don Van Deusen, 18th year

1990 record: 3-7

Returnees: Seniors Brian Gick (WR/DB), Brian Smith (WR/LB), BrianVan Deusen (QB/DB), Bryan Egolf (QB/DB), Tony Zancan (RB/LB), Brian Hannah (RB/LB), Jeff Burdick (C/DT), David Keyser (T/DT), Eugene Miller (T/DT), Brandon Miller (G/DE), Geoff Martiny (T/DT).

Newcomers to watch: Senior Tommy Nekouei (T/DT), junior Justin Jones (G/DE), sophomores Carlando Love (RB/LB), Shane Beaver (C/DE).

Coach's outlook: "Our line is our weak area, and we're working hard to improve there. A lot of teams don't expect much from us, but the kids feel really good and confident going in. We're not superbig, superstrong or superfast. It's hard to (see) a sure win (on the schedule)."

Howard County Sun outlook: The Raiders are one of the teams opting for a run-and-shoot offense in the hopes of recharging an attack that produced just 13 touchdowns last year. Van Deusen showed nice improvement after winning the QB job at midseason last year, and Gick is an excellentreceiver. If the line gives Van Deusen time to spot the open man, Atholton should score consistently. The defense, blown out four times last year, has more question marks.
