Coach: Doug DuVall, 19th year

1990 record: 13-0.

Returnees: Seniors Phil White (QB), Damon Hamlin (RB/S), Ira Crawley (WR), Steve Alleyne (WR), Pat Brown (FL), James Easterly (T/DT), Tony Farace (G/DT), Blaize Duggan (G/DT), Kevin Norris (T), Brent Guyton (LB), Brian Schmidt (DT), Mike Scott (DT), Brandon Easterling (G), Eric Swayze (FL/LB).

Newcomers to watch: Seniors Andre Martin (FL), Shane Allen (DE), George Bradford (S), Cedric Benning (DL); juniors Craig Butler (FL), Nate Casella (LB/DE), Donald Gibson (CB), Paul Knox (CB), Josh Hall (CB).

Coach's outlook: "We're pretty strong up front on defense, but we're real inexperienced in the secondary. Ifsomebody tries pounding the ball up the middle on us, they're in fora long day. . . . We'll try spreading teams out more and beating them with our speed."

Howard County Sun outlook: DuVall became one ofthe county's more conservative coaches during the 1980s. This year, he's unveiling a run-and-shoot offense that should showcase the talents of QB White, who has one of the top arms in the state. The line will anchored by the 6-5, 285-pound Easterly, and the offense will be energized by Hamlin at RB. Guyton leads a defense that won't be as airtight as last year's, but will be more than good enough.
