Coach's comments: "We feel we have a good football team with plenty of experience. We have some kidscoming up from the junior varsity ranks, just reloading the gun. It's a great group of kids who have shown a lot of enthusiasm."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: Reid enters his 25th year at Smithsburg with a solid nucleus back from last year's 8-4 squad. The Leopards will be particularly strong and experienced on offense and will rely onWilliams to key the defense at his middle linebacker position. The only big question mark is at the defensive front, where Reid lost somekey starters to graduation. If he can fill those holes up front, they will be tough to beat. With many people looking at Walkersville, Middletown and North Hagerstown as the favorites to win the league, don't be surprised to see Smithsburg sneak up on them as the season progresses. The Leopards are consistently one of the best Class 1A teams in the state.
