Last year's record: 4-5-0, 2-5-0 in the Centennial Football Conference

Top returnees: Seniors, offensive guard Dan Nicastro, tight end Scott Flannery, wide receiver Mike Cohen, wide receiver Bill Engro, wide receiver Mike Kane, defensive back Todd Klinedinst, defensive back BillBunnell, defensive back John Leszczynski; juniors, offensive tackle Reed Nicholls, center Myles Hannigan, offensive tackle Scott Taylor, running back Anthony Barber, defensive lineman Brent Baldasare, defensive back Todd Odgers; sophomore, linebacker Paul Guenther

Top newcomers: Junior, running back Dave Boleto; sophomore, quarterback Ed Wojon

Coach's comments: "I think our offensive line will be one of our strengths this year. Most of them are coming back for their junior season. Our quarterback situation is wide open. We have eight of them in camp. One weakness would be our defensive line. Our kicking game also is a weakness. Our kicker and punter were both seniors last year."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: How do you figure this team? The squad has a staggering 61 letter winners returning, though a modest 13 starters. And there are some holes, most notable in the kicking game and on the defensive line. And camp started with eight quarterbacks, so there's talent, but not much experience at that important spot. On the other hand, with 61 returning letter winners to blend inwith the newcomers, this team has depth all over the place. The Bears had the second best defense in the conference last year (and the top pass defense), and if that unit gels early, the offense could have some time to get its act together.
