Steeltown night club to feature several rock and roll acts 0) Tuesday

Micky Dolenz of the Monkees, Tiny Tim, Al Wilson, Cannibal and the Headhunters are some of the 11 acts and 22 artists

featured in the "30 Years of Rock and Roll" show, which comes to Steeltown night club Tuesday at 8 p.m. Also on the bill are Mike Pinera, former lead singer of Blues Image and Iron Butterfly, Pat Upton and the Spiral Starecase ("I Love You More Today Than Yesterday), Bobby "Boris" Pickett of "Monster Mash" fame, Jewel Akens ("Birds and the Bees"), the Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight"), Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf ("Greeneyed Lady") and Donnie Brooks ("Mission Bell"). Tickets are $10. Call 288-3400. Jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd will present a concert Thursday a 7 p.m. to benefit Associated Catholic Charities' programs for needy children, families and the homeless. The event takes place at Oregon Ridge Park and will be followed by fireworks at 9:30. Admission is $10 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and free for "babes in arms." Gates open at 5 p.m. and concertgoers are invited to bring picnic dinners; food will be available from Catholic Charities organizations operating concession stands. For more information, call 547-5411. Bernard Pomerance's Tony Award-winning drama "Th Elephant Man" begins a one-month run at Olney Theatre on Tuesday. The play is based on the true story of John Merrick, believed to have been a victim of the disfiguring disease neurofibromatosis. The production stars Towson State alumnus Bruce R. Nelson.

Performance times are 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sundays and 2:30 p.m. on some Saturdays, through Sept. 8. Tickets are $16 to $21. Olney Theatre is at 2001 Route 108 in Olney. Information: (301) 924-3400.
