Anatomical trends in the glossies

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

NEW YORK - Demi Moore was only the beginning. Advertising and editorial images in magazines get stronger, more shocking all the time, from the graphic breast-implant photos in Mirabella magazine in August to the Benetton ad in the August issue of Vogue: a just-born baby splashed across two pages.

Anyone just looking for pretty clothes may end up wanting to get some air.

In the ad-slim Allure magazine for August, a feature on the idealized female form includes artsy portraits of Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Elle Macpherson, and Stephanie Seymour completely starkers. Seymour, one is told, "doesn't do a lick of exercise." (Check her out in 10 years.)
