Loyola College has named two area teachers, Sister Carmen Marie D'damio, SSND, and Patricia Wieczynski, to work as full-time mentors as part of its Catholic School Fellowship Program, a three-year graduate level program designed to attract qualified people into Catholic schools and give them the necessary training to teach.

The program, co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, combines 40 credits of graduate level study and an internship with full-time mentors to prepare fellows for careers in education, particularly Catholic education. Sister Carmen Marie and Ms. Wieczynski will be matched with six fellows each in a mentoring role.

Before being named mentor in the Catholic School Fellowship Program, Sister Carmen Marie worked as principal of St. Mary's Elementary School in Hagerstown, vice principal of St. Mary's Elementary School in Annapolis, and taught grades one and three at St. Thomas Aquinas in Baltimore.

Ms. Wieczynski worked as the educational director at St. Timothy's School in Baltimore and taught the primary level at St. William of York in Baltimore before being named mentor to the program.

For more information about the program or about the mentors, please call Dr. William Amoriell, chair of the Education Department, 532-5095.
