Health care costs

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

THUMBS DOWN to state and federal governments for continuing what amounts to be nothing more than lip-service on the rising costs in our health care system. Political leaders responsible for making decisions that could lead to cutting the alarming costs and doing something about the acute financial strain on consumers offer nothing more than political lingo that turns to broken promises after elections.

Some 33 million people under the age of 65, roughly 16 percent of the population, are uninsured today, compared to 12 percent uninsured in 1978.

The public is not ready for another campaign blitz in the 1992 elections where candidates claim to have the answer to the deplorable problem. The public is tired of broken promises.
