Local historical society is in search of researchers


CURRENT volunteer news and needs:

Baltimore County Historical Society, located in Cockeysville, needs volunteers to assist with research and entering the

information into the society's computer. Volunteers will also help expand hours of the society, which are currently from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information or to volunteer, call 666-1876.

Baltimore Goodwill Industries -- the Goodwill collection center, located in the Hereford Shopping Center at I-83 and Mount Carmel Road, will be open to accept donations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month through December. Baltimore Association for Retarded Citizens was recently honored with the 1991 Appreciation Award from Baltimore City Public Schools, Division of Special Education Work Study Program. The award was presented by Dr. Phillip Farfel, from the board of school commissioners. For more information about the association, call Jeanne Fagan at 323-5600.

Harbor Hospital Center wants volunteers to transport patients being discharged. Wheelchair training provided by the hospital. Call Ann Heil, volunteer coordinator, at 347-3478.

Howard County Office on Aging Volunteers Plus wants someone with strong clerical skills to deliver meals for Meals on Wheels, work with children, assist in mailing the Senior Connection once each month, staff the library circulation desk at Florence Bain Senior Center, help with ceramics program and consider joining Pets on Wheels.
