The Harford County Commission for Women will sponsor "Hand-in-Hand Day" Saturday at Harford Mall in Bel Air from 10 a.m. until about 9:30p.m. so county residents can get acquainted with the many support groups available.

Whether it's a parent trying to cope with an emptynest or an incest victim struggling to survive, there's a support group available to help with sharing and subsequent growth and healing,county government spokeswoman Sue Collins says.

Representatives from nearly 30 support groups will participate inthe daylong event and will provide brochures about their services.

Groups expected to participate include:

The Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Harford County, the American Cancer Society, Baltimore Neighborhoods, Caretaker's Support Group, Cope Line, Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association, Diabetes Support Group, Parent/Child Diabetes Support Group, Empty Nesters, Epilepsy Association ofMaryland, Families of Murdered Loved Ones and Harford County Drug/Alcohol Impact Program.

Other groups sending representatives are Harford Hospice -- Bereavement Support, I Can Cope (cancer patients), Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, La Leche League of Harford County, Learning Disabilities Association, Maryland Lupus Foundation, Mason-Dixon Community Services, MS Support, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Support Group and Organization for the Enforcement of Child Support.

Also, Parents Without Partners, Reach for Recovery, Scoliosis Association, Sexual Assault/Spouse Abuse Resource Center, Spouses in Grief, Stephanie Roper Community Foundation and Survivors of Incest Anonymous.
