Marine Pvt. Larry W. Dowell, son of Charles and Shirley Dowell of Bel Air, has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
During the 13-week training cycle, Dowell was taught the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards exhibited by Marines.
A 1986 graduate of Bel Air High School, he joined the Marine Corps in September 1990.
JONES REPORTS FOR DUTY
Marine Sgt. Lawrence B. Jones, son of Carroll D. Jones of Jarrettsville, recently reported for duty with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron-28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corp Air Station, Cherry Point, S.C.
His wife, Catherine, is the daughter of Jerry and Mary Trefilette of Forest Hill.
A 1980 graduate of North Harford High School, he joined the Marine Corps in September 1980.
CLARK BACK IN VA.
Navy Seaman Recruit Richard D. Clark, son of George F. and JoAnn C. Clark of Darlington, has returned to Norfolk, Va., following deployment to the Mediterranean Sea while serving aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Dahlgren.
Clark participated in a variety of training exercises and visited numerous foreign ports.
The 1985 graduate of North Harford High School joined the Navy in October 1987.
FRIKKEN IS PROMOTED
Marine Cpl. Gregory J. Frikken, son of Charlotte A. and Gregory J. Frikken Sr. of Aberdeen, has been promoted to his present rank while serving with 9th Communication Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
The 1988 graduate of Aberdeen Senior High School joined the Marine Corps inJuly 1988.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Frank C. Williamson, son of Herman M. Williamson of Aberdeen, recently completed the Navy Security Guard course.
During the course, taught at the Naval Technical Training Center Detachment, Lackland Air ForceBase, Texas, Williamson studied the laws, regulations and proceduresgoverning law-enforcement programs.
Williamson was trained in apprehension, search and seizure, riot control, drug-abuse detection, small arms, waterfront defense and anti-terrorism tactics.
A 1985 graduate of Aberdeen High School, he joined the Navy in January 1986.
