A compilation of some of the crimes reported to the Howard County police and state police:


5600 block Thicket Lane: July 11, a man pried open the front doorof a home, but apparently took nothing. Residents of the home discovered the man standing in the kitchen at about 9:15 p.m., when they returned home. He fled when they entered the house. The suspect was described as a white male, 6 foot, 1 inch tall, dark blond hair, in late20s, wearing blue jeans and an orange shirt.

4900 block Columbia Road: July 13, a man walked into an apartment rental office and exposed himself to the rental agent at 4:45 p.m. The suspect is described as a black male, 6 foot 2 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing red shortsand and gray shirt.

8700 block Hayshed Lane: July 13, a 1987 Toyota pickup truck was reported stolen from a residential area sometime before 8 a.m.

6000 block Majors Lane: July 15, an unknown assailant attempted to steal a 1991 Mazda Miata from a residential parking lot sometime before 7 a.m.


6800 block Old Waterloo Road:July 14, a 1987 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from an apartment complex parking lot between 2 a.m and 7 p.m.

Ellicott City

Chatham Road and Route 40: July 11, a man drove into the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant at 7:20 a.m., pointed a gun at a passer-by, demanded cash and pistol-whipped the victim. The suspect obtained money and a car compact disc player from the victim before driving from thescene in a silver Toyota with Washington license plates. The victim was not seriously injured.

3200 block Normandy Woods Drive: July 13, someone attempted to steal a 1989 Honda Accord from an apartment complex parking lot between 9:50 and 11:30 p.m.

3200 block NormandyWoods Drive: July 13, a 1987 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from an apartment complex parking lot sometime before 7:30 a.m.


9200 block Livery Lane: July 12, an unknown assailant broke into anapartment and stole a television set and cable box.

9200 block Pinehut Court: July 12, someone attempted to break into a home by prying open the front door lock between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. The person was unable to gain entry.


Davis Ave. and Route 1: July 11,a man armed with a knife robbed the cashier at Hardees Restaurant and fled in an automobile driven by an accomplice at about 10 p.m.

9900 block Guilford Road: July 16, electronic equipment was reported stolen from a residence sometime before 5 p.m.
