THE BALTIMORE SUN

WINFIELD -- Candie Johnson and Amy Hancock led an assault on the record books at Sunday's fifth annual Carroll County Invitational swim meet at the South Carroll Swim Club.

Johnson, possibly the best swimmer ever from Carroll and a participant at the U.S. Olympic Festival last year, broke five meet records while competing for the Westminster Riding Club team. Hancock, competing for the Freedom Swim Club, smashed four others.

In all, meet records were set in 22 of the 52 events.

Wednesday's issue contained two errors:The sports photo on Page 21 was actually Jonathan Jenkins, 6, who swam in the 6-and-up division. A member of the South Carroll Swim Club, he took first place, shaving four seconds off the record, in the backstroke competition at the annual Carroll County Invitational swim meet.
